WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

WOW, people actually think he's going to walk through Stann and Marshall? After that showing against Sonnen? seriously theres an exceptionally good chance Sonnen just kicks his ass in this fight. It's obviously Filho will lose to any tall striker, whether they are any good at striking seems irrelavent, because it only seems to take a mediocre striker to lay waste to Filho. Stann would walk through Filho i think, marshall would probably have some issues as he's not too big, but by no means is Filho going to walk through either of them.
Like someone said, Filho just assured himself he will never fight top competition by going to 205, he'll stay in the WEC padding his record making all the nuthuggers buy into his apparent #1 MW status. Makes him look like a total vagina and is completely BS if you ask me

I actually think he'd easily beat both Stann & Marshall, simply because they're not that good. In Marshall's case, he's just bad. In Stann's case, he's just way too green. I am not a Filho fan, but seriously, he's a solid fighter.
Now, I think Sonnen will beat Filho in a rematch, since he'll keep it standing.

"It only takes a mediocre striker to lay waste to Filho"
Name one that's done it. I agree with you that Filho doesn't have as much of a shot at LHW, but suggesting that he goes down to mediocre strikers is a bit much. Especially since he's undefeated and prior to the Sonnen fight, had just got done demolishing Joe Doerkson on the feet (even though Doerkson's a submission fighter... his stand up was cleaner than Filho's).

I dont understand this. Filho hasnt even had a match since his title defense to Chael. How does the same guy get a title shot twice in a row? Even if it was a less than stellar win by Filho doesnt someone else in the WEC get a shot? Or is the WEC hurting for middleweight contenders worse than the UFC is?

I also said tall, i just can't picture filho beating a tall decent striker, not even a brawler, save a lucky punch. Shonnen showed Filho's weakness right there, though could have been more of a mental weakness then anything, he just expected to walk through shonnen and got a bit more then he thought he would. Sonnen was a brink UFC fighter and at best had mediocre striking, looked pretty sloppy to me during that fight, he was just using his reach and was never in danger of ever getting caught by filho's short arms. I think filho's undefeated record is extremely padded and will continue to be so, unless of course he does move up to 205, i'll be happy when i see him get his first defeat.

That certain tall, decent striker better have some solid wrestling, because all Filho would do is take him down.
