WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Carlos Condit / WEC question
Do you think or already think that the WEC is going to push Condit as their poster boy? We saw it in the UFC with Liddell, but do you think the WEC should/would push Condit as theirs? I think they should, he is a very complete fighter and pretty intelligent. He seems very marketable.

Seems like Faber's their guy, but Condit's one of their poster boys. He's probably a little behind Faber, but he's still looked at as something big for the WEC, which rules, because Condit's a really good fighter.

After the Faber/Pulver fight, if Faber loses do you still think they will push him as hard or focus more on Condit?

Its Faber until he loses, but if he does in fact eat a big punch from Pulver, I could see Condit taking over the poster boy reign. They oughta market him more, becuase he's well rounded and likeable.

See IMO Condit is a lot more well rounded than Faber, but Faber has the "look". I would rather see the more well rounded fighter be market than someone with a look. Don't get me wrong Faber is a good fighter, but Condit is ust better.

As said before, Faber is the "poster boy" until he loses.

Yeah, but well roundedness doesn't = posterboy. Domination does. Thats why Faber is there now, and its why Condit will be if/when Faber does indeed lose. I mean, Chuck Liddell doesn't necessarily qualify for the well-rounded fighter list, but when you dominate dudes over and over and over, you get the limelight.
Thats whats going on with Urijah right now.

I see where you are coming from and I agree, but do you think that Faber's look has anything to do with it as well?

I agree with what was said above: until he loses, Urijah is their poster boy. He's got the marketable look, people love his smash mouth, bring it to you full throttle fight-style (including me), and he's just DOMINANT right now...so they will continue to build on that as long as they can. Condit, I think after tonight, solidified himself as #2 poster boy though, and it looks like they're building Brian Stann as #3.

Could be. He's got that California boy look, he's big and cut, and he's a nice dude. Condit is a bit lanky-looking. So it may have something to do with it, but mostly it has to do with Faber dominating.
