WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Miguel Torres says he's not impressed with Japanese fighters

Miguel Torres talks about his win over Beebe, his future plans and bunch of other stuff

http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content2082.html

On his submission on Beebe...

"When I had his arm wrapped, he was trying to pull it out and he gave me that shoulder lock. I had like an inside kimura and it was pretty deep man and I didn’t have to roll him over too hard because when I threw my leg over, he was already falling to the side because of the pressure on his elbow. I rolled him over and I knew he wasn’t going to stay on his back because when I do it to guys in Jiu-Jitsu, they stay on their back and try to put me in guard, but all of the wrestlers I train with, when I sweep them like that, they get back to their knees immediately and they leave themselves open for an anaconda choke and that’s how it worked out."

On who he'd like to face next...

"I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me man. They got guys in Japan that they’ve been talking about for a long time. I’ve seen these Japanese guys fight and I’m not impressed from their game. They got Manny Tapia, Charlie Valencia and Brian Bowles, so they got a couple of guys out there that are pretty good. I’m ready to fight whoever. I think whether it’s on the ground or stand-up, I’m going to be in exciting fights. I can’t wait to get in there again."

"If I had the choice, I would do either June or July. I try to get at least 3 or 4 fights a year, you know? I try to stay active. I don’t like taking long breaks in my career. I’ve been active my whole career, like 4 or 5 fights a year for these last few years, so I try to stay active."

On a possible move up in weight...

"I hope so man. I’m hoping that can happen. Hopefully, in a couple of years, my metabolism will slow down and I can gain some weight without having to eat every hour. Eventually, I want to get there for sure man. I want to go to 145 in the next couple of years because I can walk around at 150 or 155, but as soon as I do some cardio, I get down to like 143. As soon as I start doing my MMA training, I start to lose weight real easy. I think when my metabolism slows down, when I hit 30 or so, I think I’ll be able to do that for sure."
