WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

I never noticed all the hate?? Oh well, Stann has always been my favorite WEC fighter and one of my favorite fighters period. I knew he would be the champ soon. I haven't even seen the fight yet and I'm just happy he put Marshall in his place.

I was figuring that in this bout whoever got clocked firstest the fastest was going to go down.
Marshall laid some heavy leather on Stann (in fact Stann looked like he might drop there for a second) but that snapping left hook was one rocket-fast solid punch.
The thing that some folks don't realize is that by virtue of being a combat tested officer in the USMC Stann brings something to the cage that is just not comprehended by many. It's a mindset, it's a way of life. It's a quality that really goes beyond words that not everyone can bring or that not everyone can even understand. A true Marine believes that nothing or nobody can defeat him/her. Losing is not even something they consider. They will win and they will do it against odds that most wouldn't even take on. It's just what they do. I have had my ass kicked by a couple of Marines back in the day whom I should have stomped. I was bigger, I was (in at least one case) stronger, and I was pretty tough. But these cat's just take it and keep on coming.
Nice work Marine. Oooh-raaah.

Marine rehtoric, while in the army I had my fair share of fights and never lost to anyone in the marines.
Anyways, on topic, I thought for sure Stann was going down and didn't want to see it happen, but then Marshall ended up on his ass and I didn't know if he tripped or got hit. Thank God for replay. Very impressive win for Stann, but it showed that not only has his ground game not been really tested, but that his chin may not be that solid. I hope for good things for him, but clearly the UFC LHW are much better.

Actually, it's not just rhetoric (spell check in a wonderful invention btw).
Don't get me wrong. All of the Armed forces have an "Esprit de Corps" but whether you want to agree or not, the USMC brings a very exclusive quality to the table. A US Marine could be successful in any branch of the Armed Forces but the converse does not hold true. Not everyone can make it as a Marine. After 20+ years on active duty I have a bit of background to base my opinions on. Of course, they are just my opinions, and I welcome any opposing viewpoints as usual. I am usually the odd man out here anyway!

Don't get me wrong, I like Stann the same as everyone, hard guy not to like, but we haven't even seen the guy hit the mat yet. I want to see how he handles himself when put on his back more than 1 or 2 times. How's his guard and submission work? He's great at what he does but he may be a 1 trick pony.

Marines also have the lost ASVAB requirements. So it's not like they're really looking for the best of the best.
Nothing personal against them, just a fact.
I feel one of the things that's really being over looked was how short of a left hook that was that Stann threw. I mean to be able to generate that kind of power with that little distance is pretty incredible.
Stann impressed me last night, not only with the punch that he threw, but the the chin he showed as well. He too a few bombs before he let that left go.

And of course you're not biased in any way?

Doug Marshall will be back, bigger, badder and with more ugly tattoos.

Terry why would you say something like that the fact Rhino Marshall might have another fight on TV is enough to make me cry myself to sleep at night.
