"I really didn’t have a gameplan. I didn’t think he could handle the pressure that I could put on him. A lot of people look at my height as a disadvantage, but I think it actually helps me because I know how to use my body type to get on the inside."

"I’ve fought a lot of good guys that were at a high level in boxing and that kind of helps with the confidence part of my standup."

"My biggest motivation is me competing against myself and fighting up to my standards."

"He said he wasn’t going to get submitted like that and I wanted to see if I could catch him with it because I figured that he hadn’t worked on that defense. I work on a lot of submissions at practice, but that’s one that comes pretty natural to me."

"It motivated me more because he thought he was going to run right through me. At the end of the day, I’m still a man and I want the same respect that I give."

Marcus has earned it, IMO. I think if his next fight isn't for the Title, then its a bit of a slap in the face. By the way ToeZ, congrats man, I hadn't had a chance to say it yet. But I saw your logo on his shorts and was like, "Oh yeah, Toez' boy is gonna pick up the W"

Hicks deserves a title shot no doubt about it. I don't think he's going to beat Varner but that's not an insult to him in anyway since I think Varner is as good as any of the young prospects in the UFC LW divison (Griffin, Edgar, Huerta, Diaz, etc..)

I have some info for everyone.

I talked to Marcus's agent yesterday. She said the Hicks/Varner title fight is tentatively set for August 5th 2008.

I love Marcus's agent. She is great and always keeps us informed on Marcus's progress. I have to hand it to her.

So about August 5th guys. I can't wait!
