WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Wagnney Fabiano vs. Urijah Faber
I would love to see this fight. I personally think Fabiano is not only a top 10 FW but has the talent to be the top FW. His only loss was a very questionable decision to Curran. He is 10-1, He has top flight BJJ, Has started to show much improved striking. The wrestling department would be very close because Wagnney made the Canadian Olympic team.
I mean I'm not sure how Faber would win unless he KO's him on the feet because Wagnney has fantastic BJJ and his wrestling is good enough IMO to get him to the ground.
I think Wagnney would win by 1st round submission.

Well, I definitely see Fabiano giving Faber a run for his money, but I'm not entirely sure he would end it in the 1st round.

That's true it would probably be a little bit more of a battle than that I just think his ground game is much better than Fabers and their wrestling is probably about even so I would think if Wagnney got on top of Faber it would be game over.

Fabiano is a really solid fighter, and I think he would submit Faber. Fabiano is good on top and bottom, and he has some solid stand-up.

It would be a huge step up in competition for Fabiano. I think he would beat Faber though. I think it would be a closer fight than a 1st round sub however. I see a 3rd round submission for Wagnney Fabiano.

only edge I'd give Faber is cardio.
Wrestling goes to Wagnney
BJJ goes to Wagnney easily
Striking is a toss up.
certainly would not at all be surprised to see Wagnney choke him out in a round.

it would also be a huge step for Faber, over 99% of Faber's competition. Wagnney's competition is actually very comparable to Fabers, and unlike Faber he has shown a willingness to fight bigger opponents at 155.

I don't think Fabiano's stand up is that good. He's come a long way but I don't think he could handle the explosion and power of Faber. Fabiano doesn't exactly face the best competition in the IFL but you could make the same argument that Faber doesn't have very solid competition in the WEC but he has fought Curran who's solid. I'm also not sold on the fact that Faber would get subbed so easily even if the fight did get to the ground. Of course we all know Fabiano is sweet on the mat but Faber has ridiculous control and position on the ground. I think Faber would TKO him with a td and viscious ground and pound.
I would love to see this fight happen though.

How can you be so sure Wagney is the better wrestler? No way. Urijah is a really good grappler too, people understimate his grappling because he kind of disregards positioning sometimes but it would not be easy by any means for anyone to submit him at 145, including Wagney Fabiano.

Wrestling definitely goes to Urijah. Not sure what fight made you think Wagney had better wrestling but in my book Urijah is the much better wrestler.
