WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Brian Stann video on CNN

This is a pretty good video/article on Brian Stann on CNN. To me, he is still pretty green. But I really look forward to seeing him progress in his fighting career.

Enjoy!

Good video, repped. I like Stann and I hope he continues to improve. Training with Team Quest will certainly help him. He certainly has the mental make up to be a great fighter.

When I think of a warrior, I think of the Marines I've led in combat, those Marines that sacrificed so much...no showers, little food, no contact with their family, all for their love for their brother Marine and for their love for their country. That's a warrior, willing to lay his life on the line. I've had Marines that have laid their lives on the line for the man next to him, and for their family and country. That's a warrior. The guy who goes into some athletic contest who has no war experience, in my eyes, really has no right to call himself that. That's a coveted thing to call someone, and that's what I call my Marines. Those are warriors." - Brian Stann

Great video. Brian Stan is great when it comes to cage aggression. His strikes are brutal and in watching his fights he looks hard to hurt, his chin is solid and he's quick.

If his ground game is as solid as his stand up, he's gonna prosper in abundance. Hats off to his tour in Iraq. Nothing but respect there.

Good thread "foose", repped ya for it.

Great stuff, repped. I'm the only one who ranked him for the forum, but I think that is going to change slowly.

Stupid question, but is he active or reserve duty still? The caption for the CNN video above says:

"By day, Maj. Brian Stann is a decorated Marine who completed two tours in Iraq. By night, he's a champion fighter."

Keyword being "is". I doubt the Marines would allow him to fight in MMA, but then again David Robinson played NBA while in the Navy Reserves and several NFL players were from the Army, Navy, Air Force academies.

Stann was active until May 1rst of 2008, so he just got out of active duty. Of course, he could still be recalled for up to 4 years I think.
