WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Too long between events
Anyone else agree? The president of Zuffa (his name escapes me) should work on building up the WEC, especially lower weight classes.

They need to hurry up and collapse the LHW and MW divisions into the UFC and have cards filled with lighter weight classes so people can be exposed to them. Its hard to really back a fighter in the WEC since you so rarely see them. If they had cards more often you could really get behind some fighters and make the WEC very popular.
Imagine a TUF series with Faber and Torres as coaches and Bantamweight and Featherwight fighters. Fireworks! Or have Faber and Tyson Griffin as the coaches so they could fight again after the season is over.

Well Its obvious that the WEC is lacking some depth in some divisions. However, I think once they scrap the MW and LHW divisions and focus strictly on bringing in the best LW, FW and BW that they might be able to put on more shows.
It kind of sucks for me in Canada as I never get to watch these shows...dont carry Versus.

Yeah, they really do take a long time between events. I love the WEC, one of my favorite MMA org's right now, but damn, I'm jonesin' for some of that punchy face, WEC action.
That sucks, e-thug, because the shows deliver.
Miguel Torres, oh how I love you.

yeah im in for them collapsing mw and lhw. Also they have a long list of ww and lws in the ufc that dont get enough fights because of scheduling they should give these guys fights in the wec and use them as headliners ie. karo or who ever needs to beat some cans etc.

I'm a huge WEC fan and I hear what you are saying. The gap is pretty big between events. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that they are not PPV's. I wouldn't mind the WEC strictly showcasing the lighter weight classes. The WEC the better imo.

They showcase the same fightnight 3-4 times per month every month. I don't know why UFC would want two of the same organizations-dirth of talent and favoritism. I think the owners of ufc are the Furtutta brothers.
