WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

most recently it was Condit vs miura wich was an absolute war that went back and forth with amazing judo throws, Stricking, and wrestling, very under discussed fight

Man you are lucky that you get to watch it on basic cable. They really need a WEC Unleashed show on Spike to get fans up to date. And I have always been a big supported of a WEC TUF show |

if the numbers for WEC get you depressed, check out the Elite XC forum. They would love 5 posters. WEC is whack becuase Vs. shows the same fights every week, 52x a year. How many times do I have to see Micah Miller, John Alessio, and Brian Stann?????

The WEC is great and oft times more exciting than the UFC. More depressing is DREAM having about 0 posters.

I agree 100! That fight was amazing! If it was in the UFC they would be talking about possible fight of the year material I swear. Miura has some SAVAGE judo throws going on. I wanted him to win that fight.

I know there's a pretty strong contingent of WEC fans on this forum because it's pretty much always the same people posting in this section (and that list of people is a fairly short one).
Is it that people see the WEC as inferior? Or they don't know how awesome it is? Or they don't care about the lighter divisions?
It just puzzles me, because the WEC has been on a huge upswing lately in terms of viewership and beginning to corner the market at FW and BW (as well as young, talented guys in the bigger divisions), but you come around here, and aside from the select group who always contributes to this section, nobody seems to care about it. Maybe I'm biased because I love the WEC, but it just seems like there's a disconnect that on a forum of (mostly) admitted hardcore fans, so few follow the WEC.

It definitely airs a superior product, as far as I'm concerned, but it doesn't get as much attention because of the way Zuffa tries to push the product. |

Oh, that must explain alot. Our SportCenter doesn't play WEC. The only thing we get is HFC on The Score.
