WECWorld Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.
Varner basically took Cerrone down at will. Maynard, Sherk, Griffin, Edgar, Tibau, Stevenson, Guida and Sanchez would do the same and control him.
Pretty much, that's not to say his wrestling can't improve. Cerrone can be a stationary target and his double leg defense isn't at that high level right now
This is just a personal observation but most WEC guys can't keep up with UFC guys. With a few exceptions, look at Carlos Condit and other guys from the WEC who were all hyped up and then either lost or got beaten down! As I said, there were exceptions, but most of the WEC guys were just in a downright second rate promotion!

Condits fight was pretty damn close against a fighter that is one win away from a title shot. That could have gone either way. Other then that, your pretty much right. Im not gonna lie, i was glad to see Brian Stann get owned because i cant stand how over hyped he was because he is a marine.
Ok, add Condit to the exceptions but you get my point about WEC fighters. Especially a guy like Paulho Filho who is now back in Japan with DREAM after probably the worst fight of his career!

Condits fight was awsome and close against Martin Kampmann who is a bigtime hitter in the UFC. Carlos performed at a world class level.
Also Steve Cantwell has done well. Even in his loss to Luis Cane he was scrapping like hell. Still one of my favorite stand up fights latley.
