Here lately I have given women mma fighters a lot of credit, there have been several very exciting fights that i have seen this year and i have had no complaints. I dont think Ufc would be doing wrong By giving them their own division. Does anyone agree? post all thoughts and comments

I have to admit that I'd like to see some women in The UFC. I think that they can bring a lot of agression and grace to a fight.

It's like the LWs, just without the same kind of stand up.

I beleive Dana has allready said that there won't be a womens division in the UFC. Quite frankly, the UFC is trying to get the best fighters in the world, not the best female fighters in the world. There are enough promotions out there that women can fight in ei. Bodog, Strikeforce etc.

Obviously there are women out there that are very good fighters, I'm just not that into watching them fight. Also, women probably will never be taken seriously in combat sports by a majority of the fans. Just look at all the threads on these forums that mention female fighters, inevitably it turns into which chick is hotter. Would anyone know who Gina Carrano was if she wasn't a hot chick? I doubt it.

No discredit to women because they train/fight just as hard but I wouldn't want it to be a part of the UFC. I think they're enough organizations that support it, not that UFC doesn't support women fighting, but like the guy above me said, Dana said it was a no-no for their Org.

My bias comes from me cringing when a woman gets hit and just flatout not enjoying it even when I should be, wouldn't want that to interfere with my favorite hobby/sport.

women are very exciting when it comes to mma... they go all out and all the way.. they punch and kick way way more then alot of stupid guy fighters who take forever just to punch
Probably because they have poor technique and aren't worried about stepping in and getting KO'd.:dunno:

Dana is right. Women are just not made to fight. They don't have the strength and it just looks awkward. Yeah probably some of you are gonna come up and say that there are some good women fighters and i won't argue, but women fighting like that is just unnatural to me and I don't find any excitement seeing it.

Even if this were to be considered, it'd be a longggg way down the road. When the UFC is officially solid and can start adding a little something-somethings years from now then they'll talk female fighting if they'd like to.

but UNTIL THEN!.... and only THEN!

We'll talk about a 145lb division FOR THE DUDES first! :thumb02:

No. F that $hit.. they do nothing but trade violently without any regard for technique and frickin kenny florian would KO the women's heavyweight champ. I just don't see the draw; I want to see the best fighters in the world, not the best of the physically weaker 50%. I'm not all sexist.. I'm all for women's sports and equality. In fact, I'm a huge fan of women's tennis. But when it comes to fighting, women are on such a different plane, I can't take it seriously.

On a personal level, I hate to admit it, but I actually KOd a chick in a sparring session... the coach was asking ard for ppl to spar with me and she just jumped right in, even though I'm not about cross-gender sparring, especially in striking. I was all about holding back even though this was a big girl and she clearly thought she had something to prove. It was a damn sparring session and she was trying to kill while I was being the nice guy and holding back. And once I finally got pissed off all it took was a good right.. I had like an 8 inch height advantage on her. Seriously, all these "tough chicks" need a reality check.. if they start thinking they'll try to pull this shit on the streets they'll get themselves killed.

Women have zero KO power, that's why they wade in swinging with a complete disregard to thier own safety.

I have no problem with women fighting men if they're good enough, but have no interest watching them fight each other. It's the same with any sport, if they're good enough let em play with the boys. Tennis, golf, baseball, mma, whatever they like. If you're good enough then you should be welcome regardless of sex....but to create a division just for you because you can't hold your own against the guys doesnt interest me. That would be like creating a division for men that can't cut it in the regular division....same thing, just minus the testicles.

Heh maybe let em fight if you allow low blows. That's even the playing feild

Seeing women fighting would disgust me... Its like the ultimate turn off

 Good call. I just wont watch women fight, I respect women who want to learn how to defend themselves and such, but I dont want to watch 2 women fight.

It has the same appeal as midgets fighting, fun at first but it gets boring after awhile.

I totally agree, I'm a woman myself and i do training, mostly boxing, but a ufc division for woman would be pretty strange. Learning how to defend, getting toned and having a good time is what I go for. I mean no doubt if my gym were to have some underground competetion I would be there.

america isnt ready for women mma they barely accept women boxing
I'm surprised so many people seem turned off and even repulsed by the idea of women fighting.

The one full women's fight I saw was the Corano vs Kedzie fight on Strikeforce/Elite XC. That was the most exciting match on the card and we had Frank Shamrock on the Card.

That was a great fight, I've seen clips from Smackgirl etc and some of these ladies have super slick submission games.

I dunno if its cause alot of you still like to see women stand in the kitchen and only speak when spoken too (exaggeration) but I actually enjoy seeing women who can handle themselves

When I was wrestling, I admired the 2 women wrestlers who made the team.

I will say I don't think UFC needs it just yet...womens MMA still needs a few more years to evolve.

when i typed what i typed i didnt mean it as in i think they are less than men or whatever its just that america is just barely accepting mma as a legit sport they definatley arent prepared to see women in this "brutal" profession many american common fans would not like it. just look at how long it took for boxing to form a women's division

personally i would not watch it but i have nothing against it

I think female MMA is really fun too. In the fights I've watched, the women are very aggressive and stay active the entire fight, both standing up and on the ground.

It's all a matter of opinion and how open-minded an audience is willing to be...most people relate the element of physical strength in combat sports to men. The trait of physical strength in general is not a trait typically associated with females. Also, men possess the natural tendency or instinct to protect the female sex, so it sorta "goes against the grain" to accept the roles of females in combat sports. Nevertheless, for those capable of overlooking such issues, female fighting can bring some new and interesting twists to the world of combat sports. While physical strength is a boon to fighting, so too is strategy and speed, two elements female fighters are capable of utilyzing.

As for a UFC division for women fighting-more than likely won't happen. People just are not that open-minded yet. But in my opinion, the terms "Ultimate Fighting Championship" should encompass all levels of MMA fighting in order to be "ultimate".

As a girl myself I can't understand why they'd want to do it. I don't want to bad mouth my 'own kind' but surely they're just doing it for power? to prove they are equal blahblahblah. I think it's a load of rubbish about girls wanting to fight. I'd like to be able to defend myself, and I don't mind playfighting, but I'd never ever want to do it properly. I like watching boys fight because it always seems to me like they can handle themselves. If I was watching a girl fight and she got KO'd or badly hurt, i'd probably end up crying and feeling sorry for her and that's not what it's about really, is it.
