What Horror Movie did you Watch?

Since it is the month of monsters and candy I wanted to make a thread about the horror movies we recently watched and what we thought of them.

I just watched Stephen King's Rose Red and you could say this was a direct sequel to The Shining (the T.V. Miniseries, not the Kubrick movie). We got a piece of land that wants to kill people for no apparent reason other then its evil. We send a bunch of psychics in a house which awakens this dormant evil. We consistently get flashbacks from the past. We have one guy we is trying to kill a child because the house drove him to paranoia (Although this was stopped pretty quickly). We have a ghost that wants one of the characters to be the caretaker of this haunted mansion (which might as well be a hotel considering the size of the place.

This movie was more goofy then it was scary. Most of the Stephen King cliche's are present in this movie like Psychics, constant flashbacks, from overly obsessive people to flat out despicable (and I'm not just talking about the ghosts either). So yeah, more goofy then scary.

The closest thing recently was Chronicle, which isn't really a horror movie, but it was a little creepy. Good film until the end, then the blubbering screaming and crying got tk be too much in the final few minutes. I always get sucked in to found footage films and am always disappointed. However I will be going to see paranormal activity 4, if only because after I seen the third I told everyone I was with there will be a fourth and it will be about the kid from the second one and everyone told me I was wrong. Sinister looks decent as well, but its from the same guy that did insidious which was good until the whole lost with a demon in his dreams.

Don't bother with Sinister. It's pretty bad.

For my horror movies I've recently watched John Carpenter's the Thing and Exorcism of Emily Rose. The Thing is still one of the best horror movies ever made with one of the most original alien's ever presented in a movie. Exorcism of Emily Rose is a very under rated possession movie. Great atmosphere and mood. Very solid acting and the scene in the barn was great.

Thanks for the heads up. I never see the possession movies, they do nothing for me. I think they freak a lot of people out due to religious background and me not believing in a god kind of ****s with that premise. I think most horror movies generally are scary because people think what if this happened and I find aliens from space more likely than demons. However I did see the possession which was a decent movie, nothing too original about it, but it was entertaining. Different to see a Jewish possession and not the usual Christian one.

Not trying to spark a religious argument, though. No offense meant to anyone.

Silence Of The Lambs was pretty damn suspenseful. As for pure horror I hear the original Ring film was nuts. I for one don't particularly like those unless it's about vampires, werewolves, or zombies. I find the former a bit twisted.
