I know were barely over halfway through 2006, but its never too early to look towards the future. With alot of up and coming fighters, and some huge fights on the way that will set up even bigger future fights, who do you think will have the best year in 2007 and why?

Mine is a toss up, if Georges St Pierre defeats Matt Hughes, then he will defend his title against all challengers, thus, giving him the best year.....again, only if he can beat Hughes

If not, I'm going to throw a long shot out there and say its Karo's time to shine. If he gets by Diego, which I THINK he will, then he should be #1 contender....which he would then get a title shot in 2007, and if he wins that, a few title defenses later and hes good.........basically what it boils down to is I think the upcoming year is the year of the Welterweight

Yeah I agree, I really like Parysian and if he beats Sanchez like I hope, then he should be #1 contender. It maybe a little early to tell, but I think Michael Bisping has a lot of potential to do really well in the UFC. So, my pick for a fighter to shine in 07' is Bisping. I honestly think though the lightweights will shine as a class in 07'. A lot of talent in the lightweights now with, Sherk, Florian, Stevenson, Pulver, and possibly Penn...

Its hard to say where tito is on the pecking order, i don't think he's as high as most say he is just for the simple fact that he took a year off, and that seems to hurt alot of fighters who are in line because it allows alot of progression from the lower ranks.

As for Karo, if he beats Deigo Sanchez i'd say look for him to fight BJ Penn or the loser of Matt Hughes vs GSP. I thin he's about 2 consecutive wins away from getting a title shot, but i still think BJ Penn is 1 step ahead of him.

I'd say 2007 will be the year of the Lightweights. I myself am a 155er and i LOVE this weight class, hard hitting and fast fighting. I think its probably the most exciting weight class just for the peer speed in the KO Factor. But i think with all the Lightweights that are dropping down now, and the possibility of BJ Penn dropping sometime and then TUF 5 probably being lightweights in it. I'd be a betting man and say 2007 will be run by LW's.

I hope it is Tito's year.. His year of punishing defeats... sadly I think there are only a few who might be able to do that and if they beat him not really punishing.. more by decision.. but he can be beaten... Damn it.. give me my car.. I'll take him down... :cheeky4: :D

This is also my pick. When he wins the LHW Championship, he will own the year and be undefeated.

Joe Riggs baby! :) I'd like to see him do well. You never know in the UFC though....so many tough guys. I see Ortiz doing well - Parisyan too, if he gets past Diego. Hell, with the stacked LW division too...we may see Jens Pulver, Joe Daddy & Spencer Fisher do some things as well. We'll just have to see. Besides, it's still 2006. Let's finish this year off first fellas.

It needs to be the year of BJ Penn. He better drop down to 155 he will completely dominate. It will be so exciting to watch him fight at 155 again. Can't wait!

Yea Karo will probably have a great year too. So will Rich Franklin, and Forrest Griffin.

But hopefully BJ Penn has the best year every year till he retires. The only person that is allowed to have a better year than him is Georges St. Pierre.

Oh ya? so if there going to "invade" US/UFC then who's going to top the Welterweight division with GSP and Hughes being the 2 best right now and then you got Karo and Penn right behind them. Lol thats a STACKED division. Middleweight Divisions pretty good as well.

i wouldn't go as far as to say Chris Leben is a horrible fighter, i peronsally think he just went into the fight like an idiot who thought he had no chance to loose.

what you can't be serious? dude chris leben has an iron gate for a chin, and anderson silva ko'd him with ease, rich's chin is even worse than that, anderson in first round ko, sorry buddy, and it's Wanderlei, and it was 6 years ago, dude do yourself a favor a checkout some of wandys recent fights, the dude is a monster bad ass, and besides it's super lame to judge whats gonna happen in this up comin fight based on a fight that was 6 years ago, and you don't get a nickname like "the axe murderer" for being a push over
