Quoteworthy:

"I’m actually far from cleaning out my division. I feel like there may be guys that are even better than me coming into the UFC. Proof that there’s tough guys in the division is Demian Maia right now... (the fight’s) going to be a big challenge for me. My goal is still to put on as many great fights in the UFC, as many victories as I can throughout the three divisions -- middleweight, light heavyweight and possibly heavyweight. Heavyweight is definitely something I have in mind. It’s in my plans ... My biggest motivation is to be the champion of the UFC, the biggest event in the world. I feel right at home in the UFC; everyone who makes the UFC circus move makes me feel right at home and very comfortable. I’m very happy with where I’m at. I love being the champion, that it makes me happy and motivates me to get the training and getting back into the Octagon."

Reigning UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva talks about the unfinished business he has in the 185-pound division but also talks about a possible future at heavyweight. "The Spider" has made a mockery of his current division and hopes to continue his absurd winning streak against Demian Maia at next month's UFC 112 event in Abu Dhabi. If the Brazilian can get past his next fight and then possibly Vitor Belfort, does he have the tools to challenge at heavyweight? Or does his lanky frame make him chum for some of the powerful wrestlers currently ruling the roost?

I think at that weight we might see Anderson lose. The way that division is headed everyone at HW is gonna have to cut to make weight...maybe thats a strecth but you get my point.

Silva will do well against anyone stupid enough to stand and strike with him.

Guys like Velasquez and Lesnar would just toss him to the mat and then beat the crap out of him.

Silva vs Dos Santos would be quite interesting, too bad it would never happen though.

yeah.... if Dan Henderson can take him down and mount him, I'd like to see what Happens if Cain, Carwin or Lesnar get a hold of him. This a case of ego > skill plain and simple.

I don't think it's arrogance on his part. Maybe he just wants a fight that he's not sure he's going to win. To actually test himself.

be could be dangerous for a HW without great TDs or top games.

Anderson can stand with any HW imo but i dont think he can deal with the grappling.

I doupt AS could handle any of the at least decent Wrestlers in the HW devision. He needs a lot of luck to land some punches. But that only for the Wrestlers and I don't think he would lose any other fight in that devision.

Lyoto Machida has by far a much bigger chance of beating them!

With Dana's recent comments on BJ and GSP's comments recently it looks like there might be a shake around this year. I see Anderson going on Divisional walkabout. GSP moving up and BJ moving up. GSP will claim a vacant title at MW, BJ will claim WW title and Kenny gets the lightweight belt. Then Anderson fights new LHW champ RUA only to come face GSP at MW in a superfight. BOOM

Few could even make it to the second round standing with him, no one would ever make it to 3 while standing.

On the ground, Silva needs work, just like always, and would have to spend months, up to a year at least just working on technique to be able to out-wrestle the HWs.

On the matter of size, he's a really lanky guy for a MW, but his height is right for a HW. If he could pack on aroudn 30-40lbs of muscle(over te course of the afor mentioned year), he could be a very legitimate challenge to a wrestler, assuming he meets the previously listed criteria.

we all know he has a lot of skill, but not enough to beat the hw's at his size, he thinks he does
When did he say he could beat them? He said he wanted to be challenged. Should he go so high up? Maybe no, but the fact is no one at MW, and very few at LHW would even make it through a fight with Silva.

lol, really..... really? you're saying he wants the HW's even though he thinks he will lose? come on now
I never said that. He said he would fight at HW because it would be challenging. He never said, I want to beat HWs, or I will lose to HWs he said he wanted a challenge. The threat of defeat. Has he ever fought anyone in the UFC who you thought had a legitimate shot to beat him? Nope, not once. And he knows that too. If you were a great fighter like him, would you want to fight someone who was comparatively a can for your entire career?
