The press conference has never been so divided to me as far as obvious choices and underdogs. The camera's right and left were so divided. Hughes, Penn, and Silva on the camera's left. Gracie, Edgar, and Maia on the camera's right. For some reason, seeing the underdogs grouped together makes me think that we're in for at least one upset. If 2, then that's wild. If 3, then yeah, this first event in Abu Dhabi will be legendary for more than just it's local. I don't see it, but if Henzo wins, beer will fly and I will be a happy man for a good while.

I keep noticing it and thinking it makes sense to put the two champions together but how does Hughes always end up on the champions side.

This is what I get for typing in a delerious state from work, and with vodka blood. I also bet too many points on today's fights. Still....someone will rise from the unpopular lunch table and win. I hope it's Renzo, with a R.

He's typing phonetically though....

Yeah, I worked 12 hours between yesterday and today. So I'm spelling it as I hear it in my head. Survival mode.

*RENZOID...DOH!
Yeah, guess I'm being a little "anal" today.

I'd love it if Renzo wins too, he always comes across as a cool guy, unlike the epic douche-baggery of Matt Hughes. It'll be interesting to see how Renzo does after such a long lay-off. If he comes in as good as he was, it could be a really good fight.

I predict that Hughes will wear on him to a decision. But who knows. Renzo looks to be in shape. I'm sure that while training other fighters, that he has picked up some new tricks. I just hope that his cardio is there.

from what ive heard, Hughes simply does not train hard anymore.

i think Renzo is coming in very motivated and with the odds im going to bet a little real $ on him, maybe $30-50. not sure yet.

It's funny how people come across in the media. Years ago I trained at a militich affiliated school. My instructor new both of these guys personally very well. according to him Matt is the boy next door and as nice as he can be. And Renzo and his brother Ryan, if they weren't being paid to fight they would be on the street looking for people to hurt.

True or not, the more I see of Renzo the more I like him and he has one of the best quotes evah!

"Most sports you can play with one ball. In our sport you need two,"

Yeah, I suppose you can never really know unless you've come accross them personally. That's a very cool quote by Renzo though. :thumb02:
