Hey guys, so i was thinking, what do you think was the biggest news story in mma history? that made a huge impact, especially on the forums?

1. UFC's acquisition of Pride FC
2. The Death of Evan Tanner
3. Fedor signing with M-1/ Randy vacating the belt
4. The death of Charles "mask" Lewis
5 Other

If you vote other please let me know if im missing out on anything else that was huge.

Went for the acquisition of Pride FC, Tanner and Mask was sad news (as is Fedor going to Mob-1 and ducking fights) but not as important as this.

Yeah I had to go with the fall of Pride. The two deaths listed were pretty minor in the grand scheme of mma, as were Fedor's and Randy's career choices.

Definitely Zuffa buying Pride. It affected tons of people where as the other options did not.

Of those options the UFC buying Pride is the biggest, but there are way better choices for biggest story than some of the others. The collapse of Affliction, Brock Lesnar's entire career, success of The Ultimate Fighter, just to name a few.

I went with other. The 3 that come to mind are the shit storm caused by the early UFC's in terms of Senators like McCain coming out against MMA. It was bid news and really lead to more rules being implemented and MMA being recognized and sanctioned in a lot of the U.S.

The Ultimate Fighter. Probably had the single biggest impact in terms of the rise of popularity of MMA.

UFC 100. There was a lot of mainstream media coverage for this event. I don't remember seeing as much either before or since. I would think Brock fighting for the title had a lot to do with it.

I think it was the American "entrance" of bjj via the hands and holds of Royce Gracie in UFC1-3...his shitt lit up everybody's preconception of fighting.
