This has crossed my mind for a while. I think BJ would have more thoroughly dominated Hardy, especially considering they would both want to keep it standing (until BJ wants otherwise). Stylistically, I see BJ finishing this fight since there's no way Hardy would want to take it to the ground and waste half the fight shooting (BJ's past opponents).

I'm not saying BJ can dominate welterweight like GSP. I'm talking about styles. I don't see him doing this to Fitch, Kos, Thiago etc...

Would definitely be a more entertaining fight that's for sure and I do recognize Hardy's amazing chin and heart so I'd go with BJ via UD or Sub.

considering hardy wont go for a takedown and this will be a stand up fight id give the fight to BJ. His boxing is nice and crisp accurate, and hes not affraid to take a punch to give one. Id say BJ by KO/TKO
This would be a good match up for BJ's move back to welterweight. It makes sense too. Give him a former top contender like they gave Forrest to Silva, except he was a former champion. FoTN material

Neither of the guys will go for a takedown, so this will be a standup brawl. I like the chances of Penn outboxing Hardy. What BJ gives away in reach he regains in more accurate and crisp boxing. I see BJ dropping Hardy, and finishing him on the ground by TKO or subbing him. Would be a great fight for sure.

If BJ goes GSP then obv BJ wins. If he has balls enough to stand with a man that has boxing of similar skill, i give it to Dan Hardy, if for no other reason then having a knowledge of constantly fighting at a weight you are natural at helps alot. Just ask Frank Mir how that worked for him.

BJ's Boxing is top notch, technically way better than Hardy. Plus his chin is carved out of granite so he wouldnt be afraid to stand with Hardy at all. And even if Hardy did rock BJ, he would not be able to finish BJ on the ground, then Hardy would be in BJ's world once he has recovered.

I also think BJ can get this fight to the ground eventually if he wanted to, and he would only have to get Hardy on his back once to finish him IMO.

BJ finishes Hardy inside of 3 rounds.

I do think this would be a good fight for BJ to move up the WW ladder, and beating BJ penn would be HUGE for Hardy. Even just surviving 3 rounds with BJ would make England proud apparently.

I dont think BJ would get through Fitch, but BJ vs Alves would be a war. Id side with Alves. Paulo Thiago is another awesome matchup with FoTN, KOoTN, sub oTN possibilities all over it

B.J. by what ever he wants... Dan Hardy is a good WW but really isn't great.

I knew he wouldn't get past St. Pierre. I can't see him getting past B.J., Fitch, Koscheck, or Daley (even though he wouldn't fight him). I think Alves would probably beat him as well...

I think GSP was supposed to finish him.. and move to MW. Now.... GSP is going to have to try and finish some other poor chum before his move...

I thought GSP would finish him too but seems like his game plans these days revolve around his amazing wrestling whereas he used to mix it up with striking, a lot.

BJ is all about standing and banging and that's why I see him finishing Hardy or at least make the fight more exciting.

GSP is very intelligent for the game plan he used against Hardy. He used his stregnth against Hardy weakness..

Even though St. Pierre is a good striker there is no reason for him to risk getting caught against a man who has KO power when he can dominate him on the ground and get a sure shot victory.

A true mixed martial artist will impose his will and expose his opponent the area in which his opponent lacks in combat skill.

I'm glad he chose this route. That is why fighters like Mr. Hardy need to evolve.

BJ would take him apart in two, Penn's boxing is better and if Hardy somehow got it to the ground BJ would sub him.

As a BJ fan, I hate seeing him at WW because he's not the same. But assuming he put on the size/muscle the proper way to move up and not have to give up 15-20 pounds...

BJ by RNC in rd 2 after out-classing Hardy in boxing for all of rd 1.

If BJ got to 170 by adding muscle and keeping his cardio and not by eating burritos and cheeseburgers, he'd be just as good at 170 as he is at 155.

Im not sure about that. BJ's frame is tiny compared to guys like AJ, GSP, Alves, and Hardy. I guess he could become a hulking ball of muscle and be as strong as most big WWs, but that body type doesnt seem to suit MMA fighters who need to have stamina for 5 rounds.

With the way guys cut weight right now BJ could definitely be cutting down to 145 if that division was relevant. BJ is naturally a much smaller guy than most of the top WWs, he cant change that. Still I think he can compete at the top of the WW division, and earn another title shot, all while dropping back down to defend his belt periodically. Thats how good he is.
