http://lyotomachida.net/2010/03/chinzo-“i-believe-in-a-knockout-by-lyoto”/

Chinzo Machida is confident on Lyoto Machida at the rematch against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for the UFC title. Talking to TATAME.com, Lyoto’s brother commented the preparation, strategy and the result of the next fight. “I believe in a knockout by Lyoto, that’s why we’re looking at”, Machida said, revealing the possibility of coming back to the MMA rings this year.

What do you expect from this rematch?
We can’t predict the fight itself, but Lyoto is more prepared than the other time, more focused on the fight, stronger. We changed the concentration on training, we don’t let a lot of people around him in training anymore, thing that had no reason to happen. We separated his training, making him more focused.
How do you think it’s gonna be this fight?
I believe in a knockout by Lyoto, that’s why we’re looking at.
How is his training?
He’s training well, doing the karate, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, a little bit of everything, besides muay thai, physical preparation… We already started the training in January, his hand is 100% now.
What did you think about the first fight?
I thought Lyoto won it, looked for the fight all the time, besides his characteristic is to counter attack. Shogun didn’t expose himself, he’s kicking Lyoto, but with few moments of definition. This rematch can start the same way, but I’m sure it’ll go a different way. Lyoto wasn’t very satisfied with the critics and Shogun wasn’t happy with the result either. It can put both to define the fight, but we’ll only know it at the fight time.Nobody wants to let it go to decision again.
And what about you? When will you fight again?
Lyoto is the main goal now. I’m part of his team and I’m getting ready. I’m a BJJ brown belt and do my karate, I’m getting ready to an opportunity, but it depends of my factors. My father is who manages his training, but I work with him all the time. I would be a problem if I decide to fight now. If I have an opportunity, I’d like to test my abilities too.

I cant wait for this fight to happen......

Seen his MMA fight. Chinzo is straight up an offensive version of Lyoto or should I say Lyoto is a defensive version of his older bro. He could do some serious damage in the LW division. In fact him vs BJ Penn would be a fun match right off the bat.

Notice the same karate stance and counter punch.

I bet Shogun is just as motivated and training just as hard for this fight as Machida.
...Well said. It's Machida who has to make his first real adjustment since he stepped into the cage. Lyoto has made everyone fight his fight. Shogun really brought it last time and I think most if not all of the pressure is on Lyoto. This will be Machida's biggest character test. It's all about the dragon's adjustment. This fight can easily be a toss up. Betting on Machida/Shogun is as risky as they come. Lyoto is one of if not the most technical fighter in the game. He just may make a perfect adjustment and shut Shogun down convincingly. It's really too tough to call...

for a guy who claims he thought he won all 5 rounds and his friends and father claiming the same, he sure is acting reclusive and now changing his training camp up completely??

i really dont think most fans are the only ppl that think Machida lost....

We heard this same song and dance before the first fight, (how'd that turn out?) and neither guy was ever close to finishing the other. This one better not go to the judges, both are too good a fighter to let three people sitting cage side decide who is better.

I dont really see him KOing shogun with a similar gameplan like last time, He REALLY needs to go on the offensive if he would like a KO.
Just to clarify, He never said he was going in with the same gameplan, he def is training Karate defense for those leg kicks, but also probably consiering throwing more of his own, Lyotot has Muay Thai as well....he just doesnt really use it....

He said the judges saw him as the winner and that he won the first three rounds, they never claimed to win all 5, in the post fight presser's there is video of them admitting(them being Soares, who basically is the voice of Blackhouse) that Lyoto def lost the 5th.....so that is a min admission of at least a rd.....FTR, my recollection was and my belief is he won 1,2,3.....4,5 Shogun won because at that point he had disabled Lyoto from moving......

Thats why Shogun should have and could have won this fight, cuz he had Machida at a point where he couldn't escape and Shogun didn't finish him.......Shogun's bad.....

That is what was strange about that fight, maybe because it was Machida's first defense, HE was the agressor the WHOLE fight, even on one leg in the fifth round Machida was the agressor and Rua was scared of him the entire fight. That is why he probably lost the decision, Lyoto had total ring control the entire fight. If they had fought a few years back Rua's kicks would have been hitting air as Machida was backing/sliding away from kicks and punches but he came in with the idea of fighting like a Champion, a tradition he believes in (basically turn GSP's idea of being a champion around) and that led to the terrific fight. I can't wait for the rematch.

Scared of him come on.....neither guy was agressive at all, the only time either of them really pushed forward was when Machida tagged him in the third and pushed him up against the cage and got countered. Other then that it was some clinch work and circling.
