am i the only one who wants to see this.. i mean if gsp moves up or if maia moves down it could happen.

This. GSP isn't just a great wrestler, he's an amazing counterwrestler. If the likes of Hughes, Fitch and Kos couldn't take GSP down, I seriously doubt Maia can manage it. And on the feet Maia is toast.

Maia took Chael Sonnen down with ease. Keep in mind that Chael is an olympic caliber wrestler.

Maia realy fooled Sonnen in that fight.
I think Sonnen didn't realy have a game plan for that fight. He knew he was the best wrestler, but had no intention on going to the ground.
He tried to strike, but Sonnen's striking is awful.
Back ON TOPIC: I think this would be one of the most interesting match-ups posible right now. GSP always has excelent game plans and he is a very inteligent fighter. i think he would try and keep the fight standing at least in the beggining and try to strike with Maia. He definetly has a better striking.
And i alos think, i he would soften maia with some shots, he would take him down and try to GnP'him. GSP, beeing so strong, is excelent at holding top control and i think he could control Maia from top position.
But if Maia were to reverse it somehow...i think he could submit GSP.

maia took chael down who is a better wrestler than gsp and kos took gsp down, you just don't remember it because it didn't look as good because gsp grabbed the cage like the bitch he is

I agree that GSP has the advantage in the striking department, but once the fight goes to the ground, it's all about Maia. Maia is just at another level. He has the best bjj in the history of the UFC.
I better not hear the name Royce Gracie, nooberto's.

Maybe he watched GSP"S last peformance versus Hardy and came to this conclusion. I know Thousands of others think GSP was scared to fight, just wanted to wrestle.
I Think Maia would beat GSP, on the feet and on the ground. GSP doesn't have that great of striking. People only get caught with shots from him because they are worried about getting taking down, plus Maia has improved.

If you honestly think that Maia's striking is on the same level or above GSP's you are utterly delusional. This fight would be as one sided as Maia versus Silva will be. Maia has great bjj. GSP has good bjj, excellent stand up, and the best wrestling in mma bar none.
Let me repeat that. There is no better wrestler in mma. No matter their credentials. Not Kos, Sonnen, Coture, or Cain. GSP was being considered for the Olypmics too and he doesn't have any kind of a collegiate wrestling background. To think that he wouldn't maul Maia is really retarded. Their are very few fighters I see beating him at Middleweight if he goes up. Sonnen and Maia are not on that list.
For the people that have mentioned him.
Sonnen - by the by - is the Fitch of middleweight. Same kind of wins. Same kind of strengths and tactics. Same kind of comparable physical ability. Both will be hailed as a top 2 or 3 in their weight class and neither will ever hold a title. Are you that stupid? wrestling is a part of fighting. I agree GSP should have finished him earlier, but the guy barley got hit at all for 25 minutes. Do you know how hard that is to do? It seriously amazes me that people can be so stupid.

There's a big difference between GSP and Sonnen, GSP understands and uses range, speed, and timing far better than Sonnen does. GSP isn't going to stand flat-footed in front of Maia and let himself get dragged down. He's going to stay at range and keep moving so that Maia can't get a hold of him in the first place.

GSP is amazing, but Maia's grip is no joke and I give him a very good chance of subbing GSP if he wanted to stay on top for 23 minutes.
