Don't misunderstand me here... this all from me, I didn't find some article with them bitching or anything.

During the fights last night they showed the previews for 113 Machida/Shogun 2. They flashed the names and mentioned three fights:
Shogun/Machida Duh... headliner
Koscheck/Daley okay, potential number one contenders match
and
Slice/Mitrione ... really?

I get it, Slice is a big draw and all, still apparently. But, Belcher is coming off some good wins, and Cote is a former number one contender.

I'm really not a fan of Belcher at all, and I'm only a semi-supporter of Cote, but still... c'mon!

Sorry, just looking at UFC.com and they way the fight is billed and thought I'd give us something else to think about other than Silva dance lesson, or BJ's shocking fall.

I think they have a damn good reason especially Cote who is fighting so close to home after headlining a PPV for the MW title in his last fight.

Cote and Belcher are still relatively unknowns to the average fan. The only real thing that Cote is known for is blowing his knee out after being manhandled by Silva and Belcher has lost to any decent fighter he has fought.

Slice vs Mitrione has a lot more selling power because of Kimbo's fans and having both fighters coming off a recent episode of TUF.

Belcher vs Cote should be decent but overall it is just kind of meh fight.

Cote is a former Number 1 Contender, he fought for the title. Belcher is a good fighter also.

It's just that Kimbo draws so many PPV's.
Honestly, i never understood the buzz surrounding Kimbo. And probably, never will.

Agreed I think they should be pissed as well and honestly I really hate seeing Mitrione vs Kimbo advertised over Cote vs Belcher one thing Kimbo vs Mitrione is gonna be awful compared to Cote vs Belcher I mean Cote vs Belcher will be a good stand up war and Kimbos fight is gonna be sloppy and all.I mean Kimbo is a draw but if someone buys the ppv just for the Kimbo fight I think they are going to be majorily dissapointed bc I think the fight will be awful.And Cote vs Belcher u having always exciting Belcher and former number 1 contender Cote

Yes, they should be pissed, because Mitrione is going to come in and beat Kimbo and ruin the whole thing. Belcher/Cote is a SICK matchup that needs more respect!

I think Alan should've been pissed a LONG time ago. The dude's a fantastic fighter coming off some solid wins over Dennis Kang and (I truly believe) Akiyama, and no one knows who he is outside of a few fans. He's a really humble dude, a great technical Muay Thai fighter with a solid ground game and is a huge threat to anyone at MW who isn't named Anderson Silva... I'd really like if he could get some sort of mention in some hype or something. Cote is obviously in the same boat but I'm not all over his nuts like Belcher's :3

Denis Kang (31-10-1 at the time, considered by many to be one of the best WWs in the world at one point), Ed Herman (18-5) and (IMO) Akiyama beg to differ sir.

I understand what your saying but Kimbo/Mittrione will be a big draw. They need to advertise that fight to get buys and make money.

Koscheck/Daley has title implications and it's the co-main event. It's not as if they've been moved down to fighting on the prelims.

Someone just needs to knock Kimbo out again on the big show and his PPV power will fade. I've accepted some things just make business sense but Kimbo Slice being promoted on a UFC main card in the same light as Machida vs Shogun is just not what I'm used to. The UFC doesn't need freak shows so it does irritate me to have them on the card, let alone promoted ahead of other more important fights involving legit fighters.

I hope Mitrione knocks Kimbo out so Dana loses interest in him.

To be honest,

I think a lot of fighters would have the right to be a bit pissed, especially considering their time served fighting in mma, and suddenly some internet muppet with a beard bypasses them due to beating a few technically crap fighters. Unfortunatly I can see mma going down the route of who puts on the best sideshow will be on the maincard, with a lot more humble and technically skilled fighters being overlooked for technically crap showmen.

Win more fights or get a dynamic personality and it won't happen. A lot more people care about Kimbo's fight than theirs and as a result more people will see them fight. You have to understand that there are a lot of people who don't give a **** about Machida or Shogun but will pay to see Kimbo.

If a bigger deal is made of a guy like Kimbo, who made a name for himself outside the sport, than about guys like Cote and Belcher, who have worked their way up, then what is the UFC saying about itself and its fighters?

It's about putting asses in the seats, Cote and Belcher aren't big draws, Slice is a "superstar" and Mitrone was on TUF. I think it's just as stupid as you, but that's how it works.

OK it is not about what is going to be the better fight... We just saw a chapionship fight that anyone who was educated knew was going to be a total blow out and Maia would never be able to do anything against Silva. It is about who gets more fans watching. To the casual drunk who does not come one these forums and only talks with his drunk buddies about who can kick who's *ss Kimbo is a more memorable and bigger draw. It is saying nothing about the sport at all. It is telling something about our society. It is Belcher's/Cote's job to put on the show and show everyone they are better and worth watching.

Cote is coming off of a year and a half layoff and a serious injury. My money is on Belcher he is no slouch.
