i see what you're saying, but as a guy, i can assure you that fighting back against a woman is a no-win proposition. if one of my girlfriends tried to slap me around i'd probably restrain her as much as possible until she calmed down, then dump her and tell everyone who'd listen what a violent psycho she was. pretty much what it sounds like this guy did (assuming he's telling the truth).

under no circumstances would fighting back be in his best interest- chances are he'd be the one to end up in jail in such a situation. in domestic violence cases, barring witnesses corroborating the guy's story, the cops have a strong tendency to side with the woman, even if both parties are injured.
