Lawler is like the poster child for the UFC. I never got why they released him. Sloppy striker who puts on exciting fights. I guess Dana figured he'd put Chris Leben in there and no one would notice.

what happened to ivan salaverry? i don't recall him being on a losing streak...
He lost to Nate after 2 wins in a row I think. 3-2 in the UFC is not that bad record at all look at Diaz and Riggs. It's bull that Salvery is gone after one or two screw ups considering his impressive wins. He's in the WFA as of now I think.

Here is my list. Not counting guy's that are signed with Pride.

HW:
1. Paul Buentello (never should have been let go)

2. Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo (never should have been let go. He won his last
two fights in the UFC)(I think he may be signed with Pride now though)

3. Ricco Rodriguez (Never should have been let go. He was the champ and they let him go because he lost two fights. He deffinitly deserves another shot.)

4. Gan Mcgee (He was decent and deserves another shot considering Sylvia was juicing when he lost his last fight after making a big splash.)(I think he may be signed with Pride now though)

5. Vladimir Matyushenko (Really underated fighter. He lost one fight after winning to big ones and they let him go)

6. Cabbage Correira (He was entertaining and added some depth to the division. His record was 2-2 so he should get at least one more shot)

7. Ian “The Machine” Freeman (another decent HW that was let go after one lose.)

8. Mike Kyle (He was decent. He won his last fight and left with a 2-1 record. He should get another shot)

-Bringing some of these guy's back would bring a lot more life into what was once the UFCs greatest division.

LHW:
1. Vernon "Tiger" White (He had a really good showing against Chuck Liddell and really does deserve another shot)

2. Guy Metzger (He was pretty good. If he is no longer with Pride they should bring him in).

MW:
1. Matt "The Law" Linland (They never should have let him go. He won his last two fights and had a very good win-lose record)

WW:
1. Renato Verissimo (I don't know why this guy hasn't been back. He was great. He completely dominated former Champ Carlos Newton and gave Matt Hughes a serious run for his money.

2. Jason "Mayham" Miller

LW:
1. Yves Edwards (I think he may be signed with Pride now though)

2. Caol Uno

Ok I have a basic question. How are contracts figured out? Is it per how many fights, for a length of time? ANd is the UFC getting desperate for decent/good fighters?
I believe it's done on a per fight bases(Of course, I could be wrong). I remember BJ Penn signed a 3 fight deal, and Jason Von Flue signed a 3 fight deal.

UFC's not desperate. They make good money throwing schlubs out there, and they pay them peanuts.

The contracts are either based on one fight or multiple. The purse depends on where your at on the score card. The higher you get, the more you get. And offcourse additional money when you win.

They should realy be looking for fighters from outside of North America to put up against the fighters they have now. This effects the rate at wich American fighters will develope.
When you fight in europe or asia there is a lot more dynamics when it comes to diciplines. Why do you think most ufc fighters get there asses kicked when they come to pride for one match? Because they barely have any challenge in the ufc. Robbie Lawler will probably see the same fate the first time he goes to japan (depending on the opponent offcourse).

BTW outside of America how many American champions are there? Standup or MMA.

I agree with post of your guys picks. I would also like to see Charles "Crazy Horse" Bennett fight in ufc. Not sure if he is still with Pride but he is one hell of an entertaining LW fighter.

Or it could be that the fighters who go to Pride from the UFC just couldn't hack it in the UFC and leave with losing streaks which often follows them to Pride (but many times doesn't).
