Hey guys, what do you think of roy nelsons next match being against Mir, i mean i have him at number 5 in the UFC rankings..and i think if roy beats mir it puts him up there with the big 4...+ it would also be nice to see because they already had a grappling match which Roy won!

I could never see it happening, but if he won the belt, it would really confuse casual viewers. People always comment on Fedor not being a physical specimen. Nelson would make those people's heads explode if he was the top UFC heavyweight.

This fight sounds right on to me. Nelson is on the way up with his demolishion of Struve, and Mir is falling after being crushed thoroughly by Carwin.

If Roy beat Mir, he would shot that he deserves a spot at the table. If Mir beat Roy, it would stop his descent through the rankings and set him up for a comeback... again .

I think Roy has a shot at it, but I would put Roy as a +450 underdog. Mir has good boxing, great BJJ, and Roy doesn't hit as hard as Carwin or Brock by any means.

Big Country vs. Big Nog would also be a good fight for the same reasons as Roy vs. Mir would be good. It tests Roy to see if he's ready for the creme of the crop, or it sends Big Nog back towards the top.

in a striking match...it would be close but I dont see Mir getting KO'ed by him. Please dont judge his last 2 KOs by any means, Struve looked kind of lost by Roy stepping in so close to him.

It's not Mir's chin that's bad, it's average at worst. He took plenty of shit from Carwin before going lights out and Carwin's probably the most powerful puncher in the UFC. It's the fact that he sort of panics when he gets rocked (even a little bit) and he doesn't react quickly enough (he needs to utilize an emergency guard jump/fall imo), which is something he could work on. People forget this guy's only 30 years old and he's already one of the most talented HWs out there with tons of experience on his side. He's been written off before. But unlike the vast majority of yesteryear's elite Mir won't go away, count on it.

Nelson would get pawned here.
