Georges St. Pierre has been one of my favorite fighters ever since I started watching MMA. No one can deny his skill and ridiculous athleticism, but let's face it, he's not the most exciting fighter to watch. Despite that, I've continued to support him as he ran through the UFC Welterweight Division. He rightfully became one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, but I think he's starting to slip from holding that title. Two things I personally want to see from GSP are finishing fights and taking risks. Losing respect for him would be using the wrong words, but I think he owes it to his fans to put on a real show. Move up to Middleweight, challenge yourself, and don't just be known as someone to take guys down for enough points to win with a UD. Well that's about it, anyone else have their opinions?

This has been discussed over and over and over and over and . . . well you get the point. So for the sake of keeping your thread going I will give my worthless .02 again.

MMA is a sport. It is not a rehearsed fake fight. So, if you (and I don't specifically mean you) are looking for just entertainment value, go watch WWE. Our sport is full of real fighters, trying to WIN a fight. They are not there to entertain us. Now, most fans find enjoyment from watching a real fight. Most REAL fans understand that sometimes even the best fighters put on boring fights based on their opponents. GSP is one of the best P4P fighters in the world. He is also one of the smartest. He always has an excellent plan to win his fights. Now unfortunately for us, the rest of the division sucks at wrestling compared to him. So, what does he do? Does he use his wrestling to continue to dominate fights or does he jeapodize his odds by entertaining the CASUAL fan?

If it were me . . . I would keep winning fights.

Bottom line . . . until someone can stop GSP's takedowns, he will continue to win fights in this fashion. This does not make him boring. This makes him effective. To me, it is the rest of the divisions job to figure out how to stop GSP.

So, I end by asking you . . . why should GSP change his strategy if he is winning fights? Before you answer, remember that these are real fights and not scripted fights. Also, remember that the goal of these fights are to win . . . remember.

welcome to number 4355322544!

Mikey we all need to vent sometimes. I think maybe DISAPPOINTED might be the word you were looking for. It's frustrating to see great potential go unrealized. I think GSP is becoming disappointed too. Maybe we'll see something bold soon.

Bottom line, GSP wins fights. Unless you are an ignorant, uneducated fight fan, that's all you can ask from a fighter you like. It's not his fault that his opponents are inferior to him in every aspect of the fight game. Not his fault that they can't do a damn thing to make the fight competitive. And another thing, GSP doesn't need to move up to middleweight, not anytime soon anyway. Maybe in a year or so, after he's put on another 10, 15 lbs of muscle, so then he'd have to cut from 210 or so, making him a big middleweight, like all the other top guys there. Right now, he's too small. But he is getting bigger. I'm a TRUE fan, so I enjoy seeing him win and I enjoy watching his perfect technique on anything he does, other than the failed submissions against an overrated Dan Hardy, so I don't think he needs to do anything different. But, I would love to see him move up and tear Chael Sonnen's retard ass apart, after The Spider does of course.

We are not saying for him to change his strategy, we are saying he should look for opponents that pose a challenge to him, like moving to MW. Most of us dont want to see him dominating the WW division for ever, not even his most loyal fans, we want him to seek tougher oponents, Like BJ Penn and Randy Couture have done all there lives. They are the ones taking all the risks to prove they are the best and they are the ones who will be remembered through history. They dont care if they are significantly out weighed by there opponent, they just want to fight the best in the world.

No kidding. It would be nice if those people did not always feel compelled to voice that opinion over and over to anyone that will listen. I really do not see the point. If that is how you feel than that is how you feel. Why push it on others? Attempting to change their views? If you're not happy with a fighters performances then simply do not watch that fighter anymore. You can not possibly put yourself in a fighters shoes and know what he or she feels so why judge them. Especially when they are doing something you would not dare do. Not happy? Do not watch. Vote with your dollars. This is MMA and it is a sport. It is a sport with consequences and rewards. I think some would be more satisfied if they were watching a street fight, boxing or kickboxing.
