He's 6'4 with a huge upper body. He made Vera, a former heayweight who has barely any muscle mass at 205, look quite small. At just 22 years old, he'll probably naturally thicken up over the years, and if he does the cut could end up being too much.

Here's some pics to show how big he is for 205:

Next to Jake O'Brien who dropped down from heavyweight:

I really don't think that it will matter. Anderson Silva is big for a middle weight and has continued to successfully cut. I know he has a different body type than Jones, but these guys have perfected the process at this point.

Hopefully for a while still, like 4-6 years. As long as he fights at 205 I think he will be a force, I think he might be the one to get a TD and do some damage on Lyoto even.

He looks great at 205 just like Silva at MW guys. In such a huge weight class like HW, he will be lost in the middle of nowhere. He is a huge 205er wich gives him an advantage most of the time.

He looks in great shape at 205, I think he will continue to make the weight. I mean he is really ripped but as long as he doesn't gain too much more girth then I think he will be alright.

Bones is definitely similar to Anderson Silva, but Anderson has thickened out over the years. Didn't he fight at 170 in the past? Even in Pride I'm sure Silva looked thinner than he is now.

With Bones' extra couple of inches and muscular upper half, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up cutting a lot of weight.

I think he'll fight at 205 for a long while, but I think ultimately it will be decided by how his body develops. Saying that he could pass for 28 as it is, he may have done the majority of his growing.

Of course he won't win the belt from Machida. Jones vs Machida will be a contenders match for Rua's belt... :wink01:

what happens if rua beats machida, then anderson gets a crack at rua and beats him?

doesnt anderson want lyoto to have the belt?

does he just give it to him or what?

Was a joke Bobby... Machida fanboys are so sensitive. I can't wait for May 8th though.

But to the original topic -- Jones looks pretty lean naturally, so unless he makes a concentrated effort to bulk up, I don't foresee an issue with him staying at 205.

He does have some scrawny chicken legs though, and looks like he could use some time in a squat rack, but those toothpick legs haven't derailed his success thus far, I suppose :)

He'll have no trouble staying at 205. Tito Ortiz use to walk around at around 225, 230ish, and he always made the cut. Look at how physically big Nate Marquardt is at 185. Jones might walk around at 220. But he's been a wrestler since birth. When I wrestled I cut to 152, 160 from right around 187 to 190. I never made it to the elite level he was at, so it's a sure thing that he knows how to cut weight. That means he will stay at 205 as long as he wants.

Yea Anderson would not step into Lyoto's devision and fight for the belt against Rua and would take away Lyoto's chance to regain the belt. He would continue fighting at MW or maybe HW.

That is one of the funnier word misplacement iv seen yet.
Its LIVE buddy not life. Haha.. im not going to correct you on your spelling cause that doesn't matter but you should try to use the right words. :) Happens to me all the time which is why i decided to point yours out.

Also back to the topic at hand.

I dont think he will ever have to go to HW because i think he knows what that would mean for his career. Good luck to him throwing Brock Lesnar like he did Stephan Bonnar lol.
