Don't know much about Hwarangdo, would like to know if it's applied at all to MMA and would like to hear any thoughts from actual practitioners if there any on this forum?

I just wikipedia'd it. Seems like mostly a weapon based martial art. It looks highly impractical in fighting, as they deal with forms and only limited hand to hand fighting techniques.

Each school is different. Boxing/kickboxing/muay thai tend to be the best striking schools. Avoid striking schools that deal with belts and forms, they are almost always a waste of time the only measure of a fighter is how they fight.

yeah I asked cos I read somewhere it claims to have one of the most ancient origins and that it is one of the most comprehensive arts (including ground game). I guess not though...
