I was thinking about how after Sherk lost to BJ everyone said he was gonna become the Rich Franklin of the LW division. Able to beat any LW not names BJ Penn. Frankie Edgar went in as a fairly heavy underdog and beat him, now Kenny Florian is considered #2 but he got dominated so if Frankie puts up a good fight but loses would you consider him #2?

If Frankie Edgar does lose to BJ Penn, I'd actually like to see Edgar vs. Florian in the near future. I personally wouldn't consider Edgar the #2 UFC LW if he gives BJ a fight, only because of how much improvement Florian has made. True, he looked like a fish out of water fighting BJ, but he looked pretty good against Guida and amazing against Takanori Gomi. A little piece of me hopes that Edgar will beat BJ though.

No, he matches up better with BJ than Kenny so he should do better. That doesn't mean he is as good as him or could beat him though. I think if he does well you have to start considering him in the same light as Kawajiri since he is essentially the american version of him.
