am i the only one who doesn understand how Vitor loses as much as he does, he is bjj black belt and he has the best hands in the LHW division, he shouldnt lose to the guys he loses too..he has all the skills to be the best in the world but cant seem to get it together..he looks like hes in great shape, so i dunno why he gasses..i know that stuff with his sister affected him, but still this guy has all the tools and hes still a young guy so Im not giving up on him yet..anyone have any opinions on why Vitor isnt as good as he should be, dont say he doesnt have heart because the guy is a fighter they all have heart

I'm with you too man, Vitor is one of my favourite fighters ever and I don't understand how he lost to Allistair twice, he should've won their second fight, Vitor clearly won. If my sister was kidnapped, raped, and murdered by drug dealers I'd be devastated, I seriously think I couldn't go on, but Vitor had the heart to do it and hasn't been the same since. I think Belfort will defeat Henderson at the Real Deal and start becoming his old self, I mean he KO'd Yoshiki Takahashi in 36 seconds at PRIDE - Critical Coutdown Absolute back on July 1st.

Now, just because I'm a huge Shamrock fan I bet I'll get flamed for this but whatever. Vitor Belfort clearly defeated Tito Ortiz at UFC 51. I have that fight and have watched it numerous times. The fight could've been stopped in the 1st round when Vitor was unleashing that flurry on Ortiz, in my opinion it should have because Tito wasn't defending himself very well. Even Chuck Liddell - CHUCK LIDDELL was upset and shaking his head when it was announced that the decision went to Tito. That should tell you something.

i've been saying all this stuff about vitor for years! everyone tells me how great he is... but crisp technique and a terrible record don't make a good fighter! yeah, he beat a young, inexperienced silva... we all know, but he's done nothing of note, ever! he's all hype and very rarely delivers. the reason everyone sucks his dingus so much is that when he does win, its usually a really awsome one. that tends to blind everyone to the fact that he's actually very inconsistant and lackluster most of the time. its the same deal as with randleman. everyone's like, he murdered Cro-cop! yeah, but he's a freaking blanket with no skill the rest of the time!

Belfort looses simply because he doesn't train himself properly and no confidence, he's alot like Mike Tyson....He doesn't believe in himself....He has unmatched talent, but no confidence in his work.

I think that is probably the most accurate and fair synopsis of Vitor's efforts (or lack thereof). I also think that Vitor is also a victom of bringing a fighter up real fast, billing him as the "it" fighter(hell, he is billed the "Phenom" so go figure). The only problem with that is that when fighters are conditioned mentally to believe that they are unstoppable and end up being stopped (in truly convincing fashion), it leaves them in a place where they may not have the passion to train themselves to overcome difficulties. Whereas a lot of less "talented" fighters have been brought up being told that they will not win unless they work to beat someone better than them.

In that regards, Vitor's situation is rather... tragic. Maybe he should have stayed with Brazilian Top Team? At least they would have been around to push him to become better.

He has no heart or cardio, he comes out beating the crap out of opponents in the first round or a minute then just gives up after that round and gets owned, just like Overeem and Ortiz did to him. He was beating Couture in their first fight too but then Couture began to own him. Then in the third fight, Couture just beat him like a dog.

I think people still think hes good is because was a good fighter at such a young age. I mean the guys still only like 27 so he has alot of time left to get his shit together. We know what kind of potential he has and it could come out at any time.

He was on major steroids when he was young, everyone knows that even Brazilian Top Team and Royce Gracie said so. Thats why he dominated so much back in 1997, until Randy stopped him.

No offense because I know we always argue but can I get a direct link and/or quote or something from BTT (Brazilian Top Team) or Royce Gracie saying Vitor took steroids? I've looked everyone and you're the only person to say he's taken steroids.

Even ask brownpimp88 on this forum, every Brazilian knows he took steroids and have admitted it, it may not be posted on the web but its probably on VHS somewhere. A 19 year old can't have muscles like that. He is not on them anymore I can't imagine but back then he was.

He has great strong hands, but he gasses after a minute or a round.

Even if he was on steroids, its not enough. It helps, but the steroids werent the root of his performance. You can thank Vitor's build to his genetics, if he didnt have those genetics steroids wouldnt have helped him much. As for his ability to throw, thats all him, steroids have nothing to do with that.

he wasn'tn steroids. Look at brock lesnar. The Ncaa checks that stuff hard corfe and he was twice as ripped. As far as vitor he was messed up in the couture fight's with his siter being kidnapped. Then chuck whoops him. Tito won a fluke win he didn't deserve. Tito even admitted if the ref was apying attention the fight should've bben stopped cause he was knock ed out temporarily but vitor let off. the overeem beats him. he was in a rut and that's hart to get out of. He fought some serious talent and it's hard to get back on the horse when your fighting tough guys. Pride gave him a loser AND I THINK MAYBE IT HE\elped his confidense. I hope to see the old let em hands fly confidense from vitor. Like we used to.

Do you really believe any of that bull shit you said about UFC 51? You need to learn more about MMA and then watch it a few more times if you think Vitor “clearly” won because Tito deserved that win. You saying Chuck shaking his head should tell you something about the out come was a joke right? Are you really that bias that you think that fight could have been stopped in the first round because Tito was not defending him self? Tito did well, weathered the storm and his cardio and take downs and ground and pound clearly is what won the fight.

That's what I thought until moldy said something about Tito admitting he was temporarily knocked out. IF that's true then yea you can't deny Vitor should have won. Tito won the decision but Vitor should have won in the 1st round if what moldy said was true.

I, too, am interested in seeing some sources for you claim that he was definately on steroids MMA freak. Your buddy brownpimp88 doesn't count as a source, so next time you say he was on steroids, make sure you put the words "I think" or "In my opinion" in front of it. Your starting rumors is what you're doing. Another prime example of why you should not be a moderator.

I would have to actually see a source where Tito says that before I believe it, moldy just saying it is not good enough for me. I have watched that fight twice in the past month and at no point does Tito look temporarily knocked out because he is constantly moving and defending during both of Vitor’s flurry’s.

LOL I get your point man, but I like moldy and moldy doesn't consistantly spew out false facts like MMA freak is notorious for. But that is why I said "IF that's true" a couple times I even put "IF" in caps to emphasize.

Haha, I hear that. And Yeah, I caught that “IF”, I just wanted to make my reason’s clear as to where I was coming from so it doesn’t look like I’m just sticking up for Tito because I am a fan of his.
