Forrest Griffin's spot didn't stay empty very long.

Mere hours after reports surfaced that the former light heavyweight champion had been forced out of his UFC 114 contest with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (18-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC), MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that Jason Brilz (18-2-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has agreed to take the fight on a little less than four-weeks' notice.

Sources close to the promotion indicated that verbal agreements are in place and bout agreements are expected to be finalized shortly.

Brilz bounced back from his first octagon defeat with a unanimous-decision win over Eric Schafer at UFC on Versus 1 in March. Prior to his UFC 103 loss to Eliot Marshall, Brilz had compiled a 13-fight unbeaten streak that included UFC wins over Tim Boetsch and Brad Morris as well as wins outside of the organization over Jason MacDonald and Alex Schoenauer.

Meanwhile, Nogueira seeks to follow up on a win in his long-awaited UFC debut. "Little Nog" stunned Brazilian slugger Luiz Cane in their November 2009 matchup en route to earning a first-round TKO win. The victory was Nogueira's sixth-straight win overall.

With the change to the card, UFC 114 now includes:

MAIN CARD

* Rashad Evans vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
* Jason Brilz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira*
* Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller
* Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow

* Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon

PRELIMINARY CARD (Not televised)

Brillz has made a good choice, he has nothing to lose,in this fight and even if he's gets beaten early, at least he gets a better pay day than he normally would.
Nog however has taken a bit of a gamble facing off against an opponent that isn't well known, as if he loses he could miss out on a possible title shot.
I think jones vs lil nog would have been a much better fight with the winner going on to face machida/shogun winner for the belt.

I don't mean to be dramatic, but that really is a huge blow to the card as a whole. Real disappointed in that. I can understand not doing a Jones/Nog, because both are rising fast and that fight would mean somebody loses steam, but c'mon.

Who? What a shame, and what a unnecessary risk for Lil Nog. Shit give him Jardine, Vera, Thiago, not some no name that will do absolutely nothing for Lil's career.

It's just a pointless fight for Nog, if he wins that doesn't propel him any further up the rankings, its just a boxing style pad up your record fight...meh meh meh

And THAT is how you calculate all of the fun out of a perfectly good fight.

who the hell is jason brillz?
Exactly. If Nog wins, all he proves is he doesn't suck. Not that his opponent sucks, but coming in as a no-namer has an inherent stereotype of being amateur.

If Nog loses, he doubly sucks. Those are his options in a win/lose situation. Either he sucks real bad, or he just borders not sucking. Nothing good comes from it.

so Nog beats Matyushenko, then Arthur Cane and now he gets... a guy who was beaten by Elliot Marshall(who lost to Matyushenko!) Brilliant!

like tufufcboy says Bader is free to fight, so are Phil Davis, Boetsch and Silva!
