I am almost 17, 5'8" 151lbs. I want to lose a little weight, like down to 144lbs or so and wanted to know what the best way to do it was. I already do a 2 mile run with uphill sprints every other day or so. Food doesn't influence my weight at all, or atleast I like to think it doesn't. I don't have access to a pool for laps, we didn't join the swim club this year :( :)

Every persons favorite activity.. Cardio.. LOTS AND LOTS of cardio,.. plus you need weight training as muscle is the only part of your body that can burn fat..

Thanks guys, I only curl as of now and do various things with light weights, but I hope to join the local gym within the next few weeks.

Dance. Yep, I said it.

It doesn't matter whether it's clogging, crunking, break-dancing, vogue, line-dancing, etc... Dancing is one of the best ways to lose overall body weight, and is great for rythm and footwork. The only other option I would put up aside from Swimming would be Figure Skating. Think about it: Do you know of anyone who Dances or Skates on a regular basis that's fat?

I was in Britain a little bit last year and I came across this French sport called Free-running, which is the most awesome way to keep up cardio and muscle, as well as being incredibly enjoyable.

www.parkour.com is a good place to check it out.

For the most part, I suggest cutting down on portion sizes and eating more green vegetables. I know that it's hard to see a point in eating veges, because people feel like if they stay away from sugars and that stuff they'll be fine. What you eat is more important that what you don't eat.

Also, I'm 5'8" and thick. I like to tell myself that it's mostly muscle, I do 30 minutes on the treadmill running full speed on some days, but treadmills get boring, so get outside and do cardio outdoors, it's much more fun.

there was a SCION car commerical that showed som free running it is considered an Extrewme sport as the idea is to not run on flat ground.. its pretty cool and would be an awesome workout..

I played Dance Dance Revolution for a long time for cardio, fairly enjoyable and a great workout when you can do the hard songs on the highest level.

LOL... I've done the same thing on occasion. But I mean really dance. Go out to a club, watch some Soul Train, or pick up some MTV Dance Sessions/Aerobics type stuff. The reason being is that DDR follows a set of foot movements only. When you actually dance, you have to use your whole body from your head to your toes. Not only is it an awesome work out, but it can do wonders for your co-ordination.

And if you ever get into anything that involves dancing with a partner, that adds another whole dimension all together. Not to mention that it can help make you look good in front of the ladies.

I had a funny moment at work yesterday. There was a new guy working (I work at a farmer's market type place) and he looked maybe 20 or so so I asked him if he saw the UFC 61 on PPV the night before. Turns out he didn't, but he is a Gracie Jiu Jitsu instructor at a school in Philly and he I can try it out for free if I want :)

UGH.. vegan.. People are animals.. were ment to eat meat.. Meat is good for us.. were also ment to eat plants.. look at our teeth.. humans are an omnivore.. means we eat meat and plats. we need both..

Meat it does a body good.

I have started drinking smoothies with whey protein, soy protein, and wheat germ after I run and lift. Down to 149 :D
