Light heavyweights Matt Hamill (8-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) and Keith Jardine (15-7-1 MMA, 6-6 UFC) are targeted to meet at The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned.

Sources close to the negotiations said at least one fighter has formally agreed to the fight and is expected to sign a bout agreement shortly.

Although not yet formally announced by the UFC, The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale is expected to take place June 19 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The event airs like on Spike TV and features the finalists of the reality show's 11th season as they fight for a UFC contract.

Jardine, 34, is undoubtedly fighting to stay relevant in the 205-pound division after three consecutive losses, and four of his six octagon losses have come by way of TKO or knockout.

In his most recent performance, Jardine was knocked out by "The Ultimate Fighter 8" winner Ryan Bader at UFC 110 in February.

Jardine's awkward style has won him key victories over Forrest Griffin, Chuck Liddell and Brandon Vera. However, those victories are dotted by losses to heavy-handed strikers.

Hamill, 33, recently returned to training after a grade-two shoulder separation that he suffered in his most recent bout against Jon Jones at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale this past December.

In a fight that Jones dominated, Hamill's injury occurred during a takedown in the first round. However, Jones threw an illegal "12-to-6" elbow from mount position shortly after the takedown and was disqualified for the strike, which gave Hamill the victory.

On paper, it was Hamill's third consecutive win, though he later wrote that he didn't receive it as such and gave praise to Jones for the performance.

The position of Jardine vs. Hamill on the Spike TV card is unknown at this time, though the fight is expected to be part of the event's televised portion.

Jesus. Will the UFC ever learn to NOT give Jardine people with heavy hands? Give him either a BJJ guy or just an average striker. Doesn't have to be a nobody but he shouldn't be fighting people known for their KOs. After he gets a win or two then give him a shot at some heavy hitters again. Or at the least give him people he can finish, I think Hamill has only been finished once via body kick.

I hope that Hammill wins, but I really don't want to see Jardine in more danger of leaving the UFC. Hopefully he gets the Stephan/Forrest treatment and gets a permanent stay in the UFC.
he hasnt done anything like save the UFC from bankruptcy like Forrest and Bonnar did, why would he get that kind of treatment?? he isnt a legend.

if he loses this he should be cut. kind of unfair cuz he looks cool and has a good camp to get special treatment, he hasnt earned it, really just one win has kept him around this long.

Bonnar hasn't looked good in a while. I really don't know how much he's pulling in for the UFC. More people recognize Jardine after he humiliated Forrest and beat Liddell. Also from the **** joke beating he took from Wandy. Jardine's fights, win or lose, are usually something to watch.

Definitely a tough fight to call. Can Jardine do what Rich did and keep Matt at bay with a barrage of well placed kicks and a definitive reach advantage? Or Can Matt close the distance and control the fight with punches and/or wrestling of his own? We all know Matt eats a punch fairly well, even walking right through them at times, but we have seen him show weakness in regards to dealing with kicks, something Jardine is rather good at. Definitely an interesting fight.

The UFC knows what makes Jardine famous. He is at his best when he loses, as he's a total artist when he does it.

Why give him a fight he can win? The UFC stopped trying that a while ago with the Dean of Saltine.

I'll be pulling for Matt Hamill in this one. Very interesting fight though.
