She won 8 of her last 9 and hasn't lost since May of last year. Seems like a good addition to me! :thumbsup:Washington-based grappling ace Miesha Tate (9-2 MMA, 2-1 SF) is the third official contestant in Strikeforce's upcoming four-woman 135-pound tournament.
Strikeforce officials recently announced the addition of Tate, who joins Hitomi Akano (15-7 MMA, 0-1 SF) and Maiju Kujala (4-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) in the single night tourney.
While the final slot has yet to be determined, the four women will square off at Strikeforce Challengers 10, which takes place on Aug. 13 at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz.
Featuring a catchweight contest between Joe Riggs and Louis Taylor, Strikeforce Challengers 10 airs on Showtime.
The winner of Strikeforce's 135-pound tournament earns a title shot against the winner of the Strikeforce Challengers 9 contest between current champion Sarah Kaufman and Roxanne Modafferi.
Tate enters the contest on a three-fight win streak in which all three victories have come by way of stoppage, including a March submission win over Zoila Frausto. In fact, seven of Tate's nine career wins have come by way of stoppage, including four victories via submission.
Tate has actually won eight of her past nine outings, with the lone loss coming to Kaufman in May 2009 at the very first Strikeforce Challengers event. At the time of that bout, Strikeforce was still using a three-minute round format instead of the current five-minue round system.
