I could be wrong but do you think monsons shortness might help a little? Think about it he's so much smaller he can just walk up to Silvia and already be level enought to grab silvias legs and hit a takedown. Plus it cant be easy to have a smoth exchange with a guy whos's so much smaller than you without crouching down.and lets nopt forget the fact that what monson looses in height he gains in strength prehaps he can musle Slivia down to the ground. Or will his less height not help at all?

It has its advantages and disadvantages.

The downside is that he he will have a hell of time trying to punch Sylvia while Tim can just pick his spots with ease without really having to worry much about getting hit. Not to mention of course that being shorter makes it much easier for Sylvia to deliver knees or high kicks (such as the one that knocked out Tra Telligman who is much taller than Monson).

monson is too short for silvia, he has no advantages in this fight and the reach is really gonna hurt him, 1st round KO Silvia still champ

Okay, so how is Sylvia going to defend the take down? Tim's last three fights were all stand up and he won because of his reach. Monson is not going to keep this standing up. I think right after we here "Let's get it on" we are going to see a tatooed blur shoot across the screen and go for a single or double leg take down.

Sylvia has good take down defense. Just watch his fight with Ricco Rodrigues who was probably a better take down guy than Monson at the time.

The only time Sylvia was taken down and submitted was when he was knocked down by a punch from Arlovski (extremely doubtful Monson has the reach or power to do that) or when he himself took Mir down (which he later admitted was a mistake and I doubt he will do that with Monson).

I see Sylvia winning by knockout.

i think Monson hight is an advantage. being that hes small hes more used to fighting the bigger opponent. but finding a parter tims size is going be a problem (money issues). for sylvia hes probaly going to have a hard time finding a guy as muscular and short with a very great ground game.

pluse i belive on the ground the shorter guy has an advantage and Monson will use it. and i think his ground is way better but im sure horn will be working with sylvia.

the reach is no question and advantage for syliva. but hes going to be punching down we will have to see how he adjusts (i dont know might affect his timeing) its a no brainer tho standing sylvia is most likely to win its mma it only takes 1 punch/kick.

sylvia aint no chuck liddel in the sprawl department i see it going to the ground and sylvia taping. i belive Monson already said hes going to take it to the ground. but like i said its mma and it only takes 1 hit so sylvia could knock him one on the takedown.

Is this a joke, does anyone remember Silvia V Mir? Tim has no real takedown defense, and no real ground game... he already got his arm broke once by someone who was far shorter than him, look for another win from Monson, IDK if it will be submission or just some good ground game.

Mir didn't take Sylvia down. Sylvia took Mir down and got cought in a submission. I doubt Sylvia will make that mistake again, besides monson is no where near the submission specialist that Mir was at that time.

It depends on how he uses it. He's got a good package for the job of shooting in for a single leg in being 5'9" and 240 lbs of muscle and he's got the opponent to do it to in Sylvia who fights straight up. Classic stand up versus grappling with both guys being good at what they do. I think once it goes to the ground, Sylvia will have a tough time adjusting to fighting what I consider a little "ball of muscle" in Monson so.....

I'm going with Monson for the upset, by submission.

Monson is better on the ground than Mir, IMO he has won so many tournatments lately abu dabi world champ etc. And for him to take down silvia would be a breeze due to his short stature...

I agree with the monson supporters. Being a shorter fighter myself, I like shooting on taller opponents. It just seems like an easier takedown with the way I use my leverage.

Can't say who will win the fight. I want Monson to win, though.

Yeah Monson said during his interview about the fight that he thinks of it as an advantage, and I can see what he means......Sylvia claims hes too quick for Monson, but thats BS, for a big dude the Snowman can def. move......IF and only IF he is able to get Sylvia down, hes got a good chance at submitting him. Id give my left nut to see a new champion crowned, although wishful thinking never got anyone anywhere haha

DITTO!

Tim doesnt look like the most agile focker out there. As soon as Silvia throws a leg kick Monson should barrel in and drop him to the ground.
