Of all the rules, the only one I don't understand is heel kicking the kidney. Every other rule makes perfect sense. Can anybody elaborate on this one for me. Why the heck wouldn't you be able to heel a kidney like Royce used to????

You cant elbow a kidney in UFC rules. No stricking with your elbow in a downward motion. For the same reason, intrenal damage. Or if I catch you leg kick and hit your knee with a falling elbow....(break).

yeah, exactly - you can still elbow an opponents kidney's, just not with a downward point so this post makes no sense

Alot of moves Royce used in the early days of the ufc are not allowed anymore; groin shots, yanking out clumps of your opponents hair, choking with the Gi, certain kidney shots, etc.

Actually my posts makes alot of sence...how else would you try to hit my kidney with your elbow...with a strike like you were to hit me in the head. How much dmg would that do...think about where a kidney is and where your elbow is....what are the chances of you hitting there? A heel from guard 10000% more likely to be used. I posted to correct asskicker who said you could elbow a kidney.

I am never becoming an MMA fighter because I had kidney stones at age 6 and had to have surgery on my kidney. A couple of shots to the kidney can screw me up. But I'm 6'3 for only 14 years old and I can use my reach. But if I'm taking down and shots to the kidney I would tap probably.

When I was in High School a lot of people including myself thought it was funny hitting each other in the kidneys whil walking through the hallway. It was funny at the time you know cuz it hurts and makes you drop your books but now that I'm older I realize it was kind of stupid and dangerous :laugh: No one ever got mad but I've hit people as hard as I could in the kidney plenty of times and I've had it done to me plenty of times. Hopefully none of us have problems later in life because of it..
