I have heard a lot of excuses why Franklin lost that fight in the past 48 hrs! His hand wasn't completely healed, he had ring rust, he had very low confidence, he was getting over the flu or staph infection, he was demorilized because 16 professional fighters plus former world champion Randy Couture made fun of him because of his advice to drop to one knee at the start of a fight! Please, enough is enough! I don't want to look like a serious ass here but the fact is Rich lost because he fought a man who was superior that night. It happens!

what sucks is we arent going to stop hearing about it until next year. this will replace the wand vs chuck discussion. i was just saying on another thread, that since a re-match wont happen til atleast after silva fights the winner of tuf which probably wont be until super bowl weekend, we will have to wait until after that goes down. so we will be bludgeoned to death with why franklin lost until then and its going to make me jump out of building into a busy street flooded with pirahnas that are fighting with sharks to eat humans

Well, with the growth of MMA in the "mainstream" you are gonna get that. The novices, and I would include myself in that category, can learn alot from those of you who are more experienced and much more knowlegable. Bear with our dumb questions and comments. This is how we learn. MMA will be viewed as a sport in more people's minds and not a passing fad which has a shelf life like pro wrestling tends to have.

Yeah.
I mean honestly, if we only saw fights where everything in your life and body was 100 percent, we wouldn't see too many fights.

I just saw the fight, and just like Bonnar426 said....
Stop crying in the breast milk.

It is clear that Silva was just the superior fighter.
Anderson dominated in the clinch and Rich took some heavy knees to the point he'd turn his body to use his arms to protect himself.

Sick or unconfident, those factors had NOTHING to do with his loss.
Silva clinched him like a venus fly trap and took Rich to school.
Rich didn't know how to react because he probably didn't expect such a thing.

Anderson definitely suprised the hell out of me Saturday night. It's not like I didn't think he could win but I thought Rich would have put up a better fight. I also have to say Rich should have done a little more research on Anderson before the fight. When they talked to him a the end he said that he didn't think Silva would be that strong in the clinch and thought that would be his best spot. A week before the fight started I looked up Anderson Silva and saw him throw those devestating knees. What I don't like is how everyone is saying Rich is washed up and should move up in weight and can never beat Silva. Many fighters had to fight back from devestating losses. Chuck Liddell lost to Randy Couture in every aspect of fighting the first time they fought. Then the next time they fought he knocked him out. You learn so much more about yourself through a loss like that. Rich will learn from this loss that he is not Unstoppable in the middleweight division. He will take a little time off and come back and be ready to fight any middleweight they throw at him.

i just like to point out to everyone since it seems every single forum and person in teh world has not mention... FRANKLIN DID INDID TRY TO NEUTRALIZE THE CLINCH.. he trained for it.. he was trying to break it the whole time when he try to crobar silva's arms when sticking it between it and cranking it out but he couldn't because everytime he does it.. it leaves him open for a knee.. and franklins punching and kicks looks useless in this fight..

so yeah he did try to crank out of his clinch but couldnt' do it... dont u guys think he would know what silva is about? he trained for it.. he even said thats what he was expecting and was ready to counter it but he ddin't realize how strong silva's clinch was
