What are the pros and cons? I've decided on the Rupture rash guards for several reasons, but I don't really know which would be better for me between long-sleeve and short-sleeve. Thanks for any input guys!

A rash guard is too protect your chest if I'm not mistakken. Raw nipples are no fun. I'd assume, and keep in mind that I'm VERY new, that either one would be fine

Rash guards also help protect you from all the crap on the mats that accumulate over the day from peoples feet, sweat, skin, and god knows what else.. I have both long and short sleeve.

Thanks for the input guys. Halfraq, which do you prefer, long or short sleeve? I ordered a short-sleeve from Rupture already and will post a review on it but may get a long sleeve at some point as well.

I have both, both are good for under a Gi and both are good no Gi,

I will say i prefer the short sleeve one for no Gi, bare arms are just that little bit slippier.

But theres not much difference.

Rash guards are designed specifically to do what they're called. Rashes can be causes by many things. Everything from skin rubbed raw, to another person's sweat absorbed into the pores. They can also protect against fluid-based communicable diseases like CDIF and MSRA.

I prefer short sleeves, I have one rashguard with long sleeves but I found that firstly I was too hot and secondly they didn't hug my arms so tight at the bottom as they did at the top which felt annoying.

It's all personal preference so my input is that personally, I like short sleeves.

aaron, I have and wear both but find myself wearing long sleve more often. I got ringworm at one point in the past. Didn't like not being able to roll for a month. We keep a very clean gym and I still see the occasional outbreak of staph or some other kind of bug.

Staph and ring worm are horrible things to get and not simple to deal with once you have it.
Keeping a clean gym helps but making sure your fighters keep clean as well is another thing completly. 90% of fighters will maintian good hygene in regards to thier body but there is a percentage that dont maintain the contents of thier gym bag too well.
I used to do long distance cycling and on multiple day trips you packed a pair of fresh dry cycling shorts for every day your but was in the saddle. Rash guards and anything else inside your gym bag should be treated no differently. ringworm and staph if given the right conditions will spread faster then you can keep up with it. Keep anything dry and clean segrigated from the stuff you sweated into and shower with a good antifungal antimacrobial soap after training.

rash guard

long is always better as it protects you better from staph etc but it has its cons as you willl get hotter in one and your arms will be easier to grab and hold, some rash guards come with an anti bacterial coating
