This may be old news but it was new to me and I think this has the potential for a great grappling match. Renzo is hands down the best mixed martial artist in the Gracie family. I can't wait to see his guard against matt and his elbows. there are few people to have in your guard worse than Matt.

Also I love the part when he says he hits like a girl so he has to compensate.

Hughes has great wrestling and jitsu comperable to atleast brownbelt level even though he lacks an official belt.
Hughes has subbed GSP, Trigg (twice), Riggs and bunch of others. On top of that he G&P:ed Royce and Penn into a TKO and has spent plenty of time in the guard of above mentioned people + Serra. Hughes isn't as athletic anymore and his muscles are starting to shrink so his wrestling isn't as explosive and effective anymore, but there is very few mma fighters who have more experience from mma grappling than he does.
I admit Im looking forward to some awesome guard work and sweeps/subs from Renzo off his back too, but I do think that Renzo willingly going down there by pulling guard etc. plays too much into Matt's gameplan.

He doesn't have a belt because his style is not really BJJ, it's submission wrestling. People associate submissions with BJJ and always label it as such but it's not the case. Some of the best grapplers of this generation have been outside of BJJ. Including Barnett(catch wrestling) Mark Kerr(submission wrestling) and Fedor(Combat *****)

Thank you again Mr cooper and Mr. toxic.
I'm not surprised but a little annoyed that this fight is getting so little attention. Fighters don't have to be on your almighty pfp list to make great fights. This is going to be a great fight. Two walking talking legends finally meet before it's too late. I don't know if people realize it but there is a LOT of personal feelings in this fight. The word epic gets overused here so much it long ago quit being funny, But I am telling you, in Matt Hughes fight with Royce Gracie, if Matt had finished that fight by kimura, that boys and girls would have been epic. That he tried, was seen by anyone associated to the name gracie as a spit in the face.(guess what...he did it to spit in their face) That he came so close with royces' father there to see it live, put fear and rage in their hearts.

in this video Renzo comes off like Mr. Rogers. He literally seems like a sweet heart. Renzo Gracie is a natural born killer. in the last 40 seconds of the video he says he didn't like that fight and he talks about getting what you wish for. his real thoughts would scare the shit out of Frank mir.

This is going to be a great fight.

Yeah the Gracie's do not take losses well and take things very personal as a family. A loss is not just a loss for the fighter but also for the family and they have a sense of honor were it must be avenged. I think quite a few people have this idea that this is gonna be Royce/Hughes 2 but that is far from reality which is that Royce practices the smooth art of BJJ, Renzo is an aggressive fighter who is straight out going for the kill. You also forgot to mention though that on another personal note that Hughes just beat Renzo Gracie disciple Matt Serra.

Yes, that's why Serra hates Hughes and why he calls him a dick. I think a lot of people don't know what a kimura is or that it's named after the guy who used it to beat Royces dad back in the day when he was supposedly undefeated and gracie jj was supposedly unbeatable. That's why sakuraba used it on renzo. They don't like that hold.

Well Matt isn't Matt anymore but letting him on top of you is just asking for face strafing, but if that is how he gets his kicks, enjoy.
Matt is still Matt and much younger than Renzo. It will be one of the best top control power wrestlers ever, against the champion of the family that invented the modern guard.I am not going to say epic.

I have nothing to base this on except my wild imagination but I believe that the only reason Renzo got this fight is because his student the emir or whatever bought a stake in the ufc. And a big reason he bought a stake in the ufc was to get renzo this fight. That would intimidate hell out of me but I'll bet it feeds Matts ego.

My prediction is Renzo goes home with a face that looks like he was run over by a truck and Matts arm gift wrapped for Royce.

Have to disagree with you on the bolded part. Hughes looked the biggest I've seen him in years against Serra. I have Hughes winning this one convincingly and I'm not a big Hughes fan.
