UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin seemingly confirmed rumors that he is tentatively scheduled to defend his championship on the October card.

"I just spent a few days in Vegas and saw the doctor who performed the surgery on my hand. Dr. Sanders said he could no longer see the fracture line in my hand, and I should be able to begin hitting bags and mits within the week. He also said my ankle is very stable. He sees no reason why I could not fight by October. I hope to be back in the Octagon by then," he wrote on his website.

No word has been revealed regarding his opponent for the show, although a number of names (including Anderson Silva) have been discussed as possible number one contenders.

Good to see Ace coming back, Silva is not the guy who he should fight though, not now at least, not after a 40 second match against Chris Leben lol

The only person I see him fighting in October would be Marquardt, no one else in the middleweights has really proven there self much. Who knows, after that fast knock out by Silva on Leben, they might hype a Silva v. Franklin match, it would definitly bring in the money and ratings. Not saying Leben was a great win or anything because in my opinion Leben is over-rated. But, he has lot of fans and they were all upset when Silva ( a much more skilled fighter ) kicked his A$$. And all his fans were thinking he was the next big thing until he was knocked back into reality.

Yeah you are right Silva v. Franklin would sell a lot of PPV's. No, Franklin is set to make his return in October, the Liddell v. Wandy fight is in November.

I donno if swick is ready but i know Dana White wants The Crow Vs Silvia bad. And well, I don't know if either of those fighters would have fought and be ready to fight in October.

Sean Sherk said that Florian wouldn't fight this PPV and he said he's supposed to fight Florian this October for the LW Championship. Thats what he's said on his own websites forums. So if Franklin's fighting in October and so is the LW championship i doubt they'd put 2 Belt fights in the same PPV, thatd be 10 rounds in just 2 fights scheduled so i doubt that would happen. I personally don't think franklin would fight in october.

I just don't think they'd have 2 title shots in 1 PPV event.

I really wanted to fight on the UFC 62 card as planned. I told Joe Silva I'll fight 155 or 170 for a title or a non title fight but they were unable to find an opponent. It looks like I'll be fighting in October now, I just took 2 weeks off training and I'm ready to get back after it now.

I have one goal in mind, to kick the shit out of Florian!!

I havent ever seen a fight for the Light Weight title before and i have never even heard of that belt. It couldnt be the Light Heavyweight because Liddell will go after Sobrall and if he wins that then he will face Silva in November.

You're right, there hasn't been a Lightweight belt for a long time and they are planning on bringing it back an upcoming PPV...

Ya, they haven't had one in a while. The fights going to be Kenny Florian vs Sean Sherk i believe, unless florian backs out some more. The thing that i just realized though is that they were supposed to tag the LW championship in UFC 62 and Liddell's got his title on the line in that fight. So they probably will do 2 UFC Belt fights in a PPV. I wonder if its a trend they might start catching on? Because the UFC 61 card was SUPER weak.

I mean come on Burkman vs Neer? and that was probably the 2nd best fight in the night!! the 1st was Yves Edwards vs Joe Daddy!

For me to actually in my own home buy a ppv they have to have better cards, because honestly if i have to watch Fat frank mir who's supposed to be a title contender BARELY win a dicision, i'll be pissed.
