I think he puts way too much emphasis on breathing. I know that's his thing and he teaches that in his classes and everything and while that helps, stuff like muscles also helps.

Breathing properly is relaxing and allows the body and mind to be better oxygenated.

While shallow breathing feels like the oxygen supply is low, a feeling like drowning or being choked. Which can lead to anxiety, depression, nervousness.

Practicing breathing could be a better treatment for anxiety/depression than big pharma drugs.

Yeah I know that helps because in various therapies I've been in they've always taught deep breathing as well as in relaxing yoga.

Must have been a long time ago. Today they would probably prescribe drugs and that would be the biggest part of treatment.

This isn't something I practice as much as I should but there are definitely levels to it. Those who learn from someone who is good in this area usually have a deep sense of peace and relaxation about them that is hard to explain.
