Hey guys,

I just saw something that prompted a question from me. I was watching a video tutorial done by Bas Rutten on youtube, regarding roundhouse kicks. Like Muay Thai teaches, he stresses the importance of stepping at an angle and turning the support foot. HOWEVER, he claims that, unlike what most people teach, he says to NOT pivot on the ball of the foot. He claims instead to turn it extra and leave it there, and it will cause a stretch in the groin causing the rear leg to explode through.

I rate Bas Rutten, any thoughts on this conflicting advice?

I love Bas, but the lack of pivot through doesn't make much sense. I mean, the guy has a long history of chronic knee problems and the insistence on not pivoting can lend a lot to that.
