Source : Several dutch forum & Cagepotato.Sem Schilt returning to the Octagon?
What turned out to be just a joke, now seems to have some major consequences for four time K-1 World Grand Prix winner Sem Schilt.
The Dutchman claimed on Twitter that his belt was stolen from his gym. The biggest newspaper in The Netherlands, De Telegraaf, even covered this story and quoted Sem being very sad because of the theft.
The 'theft' has turned out to be some sort of publicity stunt in cooperation with a big national radio station. So, at least we know the belt wasn't really taken from the 'Hightower', but a chance to win a fifth K-1 World Grand Prix title may be taken away from him.
Representatives from FEG have already stated not to be amused by Schilt's actions. They accuse him of not showing respect to the fans and the prestigious title, and there seems to be a rather large chance that Schilt will not be allowed in the Grand Prix this year.
With FEG still having to pay a lot of fighters, both for K-1 and DREAM, Schilt may not even be that disappointed. From different sources we hear that Schilt's management is already in negotiations with Dana White. Schilt already had a stint in the UFC in 2001, beating Pete Williams by TKO and losing to Josh Barnett by armbar.
The three time King of Pancrase is 26-14-1 in MMA, with 24(!) of his wins inside the distance. And, not to forget, he went the distance with Fedor Emelianenko in PRIDE.
The Golden Glory product lost to some big names in MMA, but that was a while ago. Getting fully focused on MMA again, and keeping his dangerous striking in mind, the 6'11'' tall Ashihara Karate specialist might just pose a threat for some names in UFC's heavyweight division.
