Seems like both BJ and Anderson would have brutally murdered their opponents if they were just willing to get down and dirty in their fights. I mean so many top fighters are obsessed with out pointing their opponents, and seemingly scared to engage in a real fight. I swear if BJ just trusted in his instincts and abilities he coulda taken that fight anywhere and won. Even though he got slightly out boxed if he started brawling with Frankie it woulda been a KO for sure... I mean Frankie aint gonna knock BJ out so what is he scared of? Go crazy BJ go blood licking crazy!!!

Same thing with Anderson, one punch here and there might work in LHW because he has the extra power. But he is the fastest most accurate striker in mma he could engage wildly and deliver a mortal kombat fatality style finish... But like so many top level fighters he would rather tally up points for a totally boring win.

These fighters didn't get where they are by adding up points all fight long... so it serves em right if that's how they lose(BJ) or lose respect (AS)

I don't agree with the BJ thing at all. Yeah, maybe he could've taken it to the ground and finished it. But, going in and brawling with Edgar would've been a big mistake on his part. Edgar wouldn't have had any of it and he would've just kept moving and working the outside strikes if BJ tried to brawl. Edgar doesn't seem like the kind've person who's gonna forget his gameplan and just start throwing.

Of course everyone agrees with Anderson not finishing though.

BJ isn't afraid of finishing fights. Neither is Anderson, he just doesn't CARE if he finishes it or not. GSP is actually the fighter your looking for in terms of mentally weak, not afraid, but too conservative to finish a fight.

I can only speculate as to why Silva did not finish his last fight. BJ ALWAYS comes in trying to finish. In case you're new to the sport, or just BJ, you should know that going 5 rounds with BJ is going to work against BJ's favor and HE knows it. At the same time, BJ has learned patience, and is not going to risk going wild and gassing if his opponent has a chance of surviving. I'm assuming BJ's game plan is to slowly cause damage, and wait for a good opening, at which time he will finish the fight. That "good opening" simply never showed up during the Edgar fight. (this coming from a non-BJ fan)

Bad first post is bad, but welcome.

anderson took the fight to a decision on purpose. I wouldnt be surprised if he told all his mates and relatives for them to put money on it going the distance lol. It makes sense, cos we all know he could have finished that fight at any time

Why should he get a free pass? Anderson CHOSE not to finish Maia because he's an asshole. GSP didn't finish Hardy because he didn't have the submission skills and he played conservative. Both are at fault for different reasons.

Anderson finishes opponents to whom he feels are worthy enough to be in there with him. GSP intentionally gives his opponent his bare minimum because he fights conservatively.
