I've been grooming over the MW division today on ufc.com looking for opponents for Anderson. The following are opponents that deserve a shot IMO:

Maia, who has got his shot this Saturday, b/c he's the most dangerous ground fighter and many people believe that the ground game is Silva's "weakness".

Chael Sonnen b/c he has won his last three fights, with the last 2 being over top contenders Yushin Okami and Nate Marquardt

Contenders in the mix at MW:

Belfort, Palhares, Sakara, W. Silva, Almeida

Fighters not in the mix at MW that may pose a threat:

Bisping, Marquardt, Okami

Personally, I do not think any of these fighters stand a chance against Silva. I really wanted to see Marquardt beat Sonnen and get another shot at the title, but it doesn't look like that will be happeneing any time soon.

I guess Sonnen would have the best chance at beating Silva due to his superior wrestling skills, but I see Anderson being able to keep it standing or possibly submit him on the ground in his guard with a triangle or an arm bar.

What I am trying to get at here is that after Maia's chance on Saturday I am wondering what the next move for the spider will be.

Will he continue to decimate the MW divsion?

Will he move back up to LHW for another fight with a contender or possibly a title match with the winner of Machida/Rua?

Or will he move up to Heavyweight for a new challenge?

The fight that I most want to see happen next would be Anderson vs the winner of Machida/Rua. To think that Jon Jones could eventually fight Silva also gets my mouth watering.

Thoughts?

In honesty I think that Anderson will move up to LHW. I think there's gonna be some big divisional moves over the next year including BJ, GSP and Anderson.

Im curious...

Would Anderson dominate Vera like Jon Jones did??... Im not saying Jon Jones would beat Anderson but to say its a fight i dont wanna see yet is pushing it a bit. I dont think anyone would have bitched about Anderson Vs Vera a month ago? Why not Anderson vs Jones then?? I can see not wanting to set him up for failure but is a loss to Anderson really anything to cry about??? it would set up a nice rematch 2-3 years down the line.

silva only has around 2-3 fights left on his contract. there's been no signs of him renewing his contract, in fact all signs point to him retiring to box roy jones. i'd like to see if silva is still interesting in jones seeing as he's lost his recent bouts.

i'd like to see him face sonnen, after maia as he's earned the title shot. silva should be able to handle sonnen. i don't see what sonnen brings to the table that henderson didn't. hendo is arguably the better wrestler, plus he has great KO power and much better submission defence.

for his last fight he should go up to LHW and fight the best fighter who's not fighting for the title. i'd love for it to be either shogun or rampage, both of those fights would be epic.

I want Silva vs Belfort!!!
The battle of the 2 best strikers in the UFC imo.
I think Belfort's hands are very dangerous and could cause serious problems for Silva.

Silva vs Sonnen, would be interesting alos, as i do believe Sonnen's wrestling is something Silva hasn't yet faced and would be a challenge for him. But i could see Silva catching Sonnen on the feet or subbing him on the ground, as Sonnes doesn't have a good jits.

but first, i am realy curious for the fight against Maia.
I want that fight to go to the ground.:thumb02:

sonnen offers the best gnp in the division, plus he is a better wrestler, and has zero intrest in standing with silva, were as hendo thinks he can stand with anyone....sonnen is the best match-up against anderson left, and he will still lose in under 2 rounds.

i want anderson silva to move up to lhw, and stay there. i wanta see fights with machida(won't happen), ramage, shogun, jon jones, lil nog(won't happen)...i have no intrest in seeing him beat up on middlewieghts anymore.....a fight with jds would be epic.
