When ufc tell me (goldy) 155 pound Lightweight division is the most stacked im sceptic:confused03: The best lightweigth in the world is bj hand downs but what about the rest. Imo florian is the number 2 guy in the ufc. but where the rest of the ufc roster stand in the world

My list

1 B.J. Penn

2 Shinya Aoki

3 Eddie Alvarez

4 Kenny florian

5 Tatsuya Kawajiri

6 Gilbert Melendez

7 Gray Maynard

8 Joachim Hansen

9 Frank Edgar

10 Josh Thomson

Bj penn is probably top 2 best p4p fighter but man except florian there no one in the ufc that can beat him.

it may sound stupid as i know he is a great fighter and ive watched his fights but why is Florian so highly regarded:confused03:. He got owned by Leben in "TUF SEASON 1" but got that lucky doctor's stoppage and he got destroyed By Diego Sanchez in the final who is a very under-rated fighter.

Are we really gonna discuss TUF 1 fights as still being relevant? Kenny would wreck any LW in the world not named BJ Penn. He isn't just beating the top LW's in the world he is mopping the floor with them. I think BJ is miles ahead of everybody, Kenny is #2. I think Frankie Edgar, Gilbert Melendez and Eddie Alvarez round out the top 5. Aoki is way overrated and gets by cause the Japanese let him scoot around on his ass all night long.

Granted that was half a decade ago and he was fighting at MW when he clearly doesn't have the frame for it. If Sanchez vs Florian II was made at lightweight, Sanchez's win over him would look like nothing. Florian would own him in every aspect, except maybe arm flailing and superman cardio.

It's kind of tricky deciding which division is the most stacked. In my opinion LHW is the deepest division as far as competition. It's going to be very tough for anybody including Machida to hold that entire division hostage the way the other champs are.

That being said there are a lot of monsters all the way down the LW roster in the UFC. But BJ Penn makes them look weak so it's probably easy to underestimate how deep that division really is. From BJ, to Maynard, to Joe Daddy, down to guys like Lauzon, Jim Miller and Mark Bocek good luck working your way up that ladder. It says alot about Kenflo as a fighter that he and BJ are the most consistent finishers in the division.

I agree that kenny is #2. But gee whiz there's a lot of distance between #1 and #2.
In a lw division without the 700lb gorilla named BJ I think Diego could come back and give kenny fits. Maybe fight of the year. Very few lw s in this world can deal with Sanchez and yet, he will never ever ever beat BJ

Fighters always get better.

Although it would be a sick matchup between him and Deigo, I dont really think Florian has it as easily as you think. When has goldy said the LW division was the most stacked? I thought everyone agreed(including Dana) that the LHW division is the most stacked with the belt not being held by any one person for a significant period of time.

If you're talking to me ....I don't think it would be easy for kenny at all. I'd even put him as the underdog.

as for goldy saying the lw division was the most stacked... I have noticed and learned to anticipate that every event brings THE GREATEST something IN UFC HISTORY! that night I guess it was lightweights.

That was also on a reality show five years ago, not currently where he is dominant (except for Penn) as of late.

I think you overrate Aoki and underrate Meledez and Florian.

Mine would be:

BJ
Kenny
Melendez
Alverez
Aoki
Kawajiri
Edgar
Maynard
Thompson
Sotiropulous

The LW division is easily the most stacked division in the world so I can see why the UFC is missing some talent there. Especially when in organizations like DREAM and Bellator the LWs are their main draws, while in the UFC it's WWs, LHWs and HWs.

IMO BJ could fight these guys all in one night tournament style and beat all of them, he's too good at 155.

Needs to just hurry up with Frankie and move back to 170 but with cardio and some added muscle.

don't see Diego Sanchez on that list. He should be atleast #3-6.
Huh? Deigo in the top 5 at LW......did you forget something....

I think Thompson whenever he gets back to 100% would beat Kenny he clearly wasn't over the injury in the fight with Gilbert. Gilbert would have a shot at beating Kenny as well.

1.BJ
2.Thompson
3.Kenny
4.Gilbert
5.Kawajiri
6.Aoki
7.Alvarez

10. T. Griffin

Im not buying Sotiropoulos in top 10... maybe in the ufc but there so much outside. I believe some one like Joachim Hansen
would ko him
I hate to say this about a fellow scandinavian but Joachim Hansen does not belong in the top 10. Atleast not anymore, he would have been up there a few years back... :(
