While browsing the net, I figured that I should check out whats going on in sports betting, and seeing the 3 next UFC PPVs I couldn't put my eyes off the odds.
Let's take bodog as an example..

A. Gustafsson - 4.25
R. Gracie - 4.75
P. Daley - 3.40

Fair enough, they are not the favourites, but seriously - I don't think that Gracie beating Hughes is almost as impossible as Maia beating Silva. And many even think that Daley will knock Kos head off. I don't know much about Gustafsson, but I'm sure 9-0 with only one fight going to a decision doesn't deserve 4.25 odds. You combine these three and you get odds about 60+. Sure, it's not a 100% bet, but hell, why not take the risk for few bucks?

Then we have Matt Mitrione with 2.1 and Mauricio Rua with 2.55 - not as big as the last bet, and he will lose again anyways, so it doesn't matter.. :D

Then at UFC 114 we have Forrest with 2.9 and Leben with 3.8. Again - not the favourites, but the odds are definitely tempting..

Don't know about you guys, but these PPVs are starting to make me take my creditcard... :D

Gracie beating Hughes is not that unlikely, IMO. Hughes is not as explosive as he once was and those expecting Royce/Hughes 2 are in for a big surprise Renzo is not Royce he is a more rough and tumble guy and Renzo is a more aggressive fighter.

I doupt Renzo will be able to defeat Hughes. But Daley/Kos is really a fight you should bet on! Didn't expect him to be such a big underdog.. It's worth it!

And I would bet on Forrest as well!

Yep, but I'm thinking about making a parlay bet. You have a lesser of winning, but the odds multiply. I want to know A. Gustafsson more before I make the bet though, because Davis had some nice wrestling and is a huge guy.

you can find a few of gustafsson's fights on youtube. of the ones i saw you could tell he had some weak competition. his tdd didn't look that great either, and considering davis's credentials i think it's likely davis will wrestle his way to decision.

betting on underdogs can be a great way to make cash should they pull off the upset, but i wouldn't go making parlays using just underdogs. stick to straight bets on the underdogs, and put as many locks as you can into parlays.

for ufc 112 im eyeing up a parley of silva, penn, hughes and davis.

Yea, it would be smarter, but going all-underdogs is more fun and it's enough to put a few bucks and there is a possibility of winning a nice amount of cash. Put 10$ on Gustafsson, Renzo and Daley and you could come out with 600$. If some of them loses - it's ok, you can get over 10$.

Pretty small odds for a parlay, putting in a lot? :thumb02:

This I agree with, except for Hamman and Krzysztof Kulak (A good grappler and veteran with a 21-8-2 record when he fought Gustafsson. But you have to start somewehere! I think he is ready for better competition.

How did you see his TDD is weak? :confused03: I've never seen him get taken down even once. If you seen a fight where he got taken down please post a link or pm me. I thought I've seen all his fights that were recorded, but maybie I'm wrong.

Infact I think his TDD is quite good. As I mentioned earlier, he fought Krzysztof Kulak. He took that fight on a one day (24h) notice, and dominated. This is his only victory by decision so far, because he took the fight on pretty much no notice at all his energy was not as high as it usually is. Kulak is good at Judo and grappling in general and he tried many times to take Gustafsson down both with shoots but mostly by trips/throws from the clinch. Gustaffson ended up in Kulaks guard a few times tough!

Here is the fight if anyone is interested. Gustafsson defending many takedowns here.

Part 1

Part 2

I'm pretty sure davis will take him down a few times, but I'm also sure Davis can't hang with Gustafsson on the feet and Gustafsson also has better ground and pound if he reverses or takes Davis down.

ok, i'm gonna eat some crow here. i watched this video the other week, because i wanted to know a bit about this gustafsson. for some reason i remembered him being taken down, maybe its just that the other guy was driving for the takedown for so long. i still feel that davis takedowns will be a different story though.

nah, actually im small time lol. i only just started betting with the florian vs gomi card. i set up a £10 account with some site, ended up losing a fiver on a decent parley because quarry got killed.

i've been looking into betting for a long time though. for the time being i'm just playing around with a few small time bets, playing it safe. when i start winning a fair amount of bets i'll start playing with real money.

QFT.

Unless you see TREMENDOUS value in each of the fights in that 3-team parlay, you are essentially just donating your money to the books.

Use careful discretion with the parlays. If you like a particular dog, add him in with some other "more confident" plays.

Agree, parlays are for suckers, hit a ten teamer my first month inVegas and I tried to hit one for two years before I gave up. If you like a dog, and I like Daley nthen put it down on him or spread it arounf if you like theothers as much. I am gonna bet daily for 10K as I like him much more that any others. then I may wait to put 20k on Brock.

Hehe are you a pro gambler or something?

Personally I hate gambling. When I visited Vegas I joined the hotel gambling club for 1 dollar in order to get 10 dollars to gamble with, I ended up with 20 dollars or so on black jack then I spent the rest of my time getting some sun and looking at birds at the pool while my friends gambled away half their travel budget! :thumb02:
