A breakdown on the main event between of the evening between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and "Sugar" Rashad Evans and all that led up to it:

"At UFC 96, in Columbus Ohio, Dana White released a beast he has subsequently spent over a year struggling to control. White announced prior to Rampage Jackson’s fight with Keith Jardine that, should he win, he would be pitted against Jardine’s team mate “Sugar” Rashad Evans for the UFC light-heavyweight title.

Jackson duly won a comfortable, if rather laboured, decision before Rashad Evans- acting as a colour commentator- entered the octagon, and several typically charmless quips later, had the already overexcited Jackson snarling in his face.
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF 10):

Of course, history shows that the title fight never took place as Evans subsequently suffered a knock-out loss to Lyoto Machida and White considered it marketable to pit the two agitators against each other as captains in The Ultimate Fighter (TUF10)......."
