perfectly understandable as Akiyama was already a pretty well-known fighter when the UFC signed him, and Carwin was not. And Carwin is still on his original contract.

understandable, maybe, but still, the fact that a co-main eventer who lost made more than an interim HW champ is a bit weird.

I knew the salary figures for Lesnar Carwin ahead of time, but still, a fighter in the main event making 1/10 of his opponent in a PPV with 1 million+ buys might strike the casual fan as being unfair.

Matt Brown making so little surprises me. The guy has yet to have a boring fight.
I can´t understand how this guys can pay for camps when their pay is so poor... :(

You make a point...but i can imagine he also makes some money from sponsorships.
Reguarding Carwin. I think after this card he will be making more money something close to 80k or 100k maybe?!:confused02:

Wait until Carwin goes into contract negotiations; he'll start making bank when that happens

Remember, that is just what his contract states he gets. DW has said often that huge main eventers (think I made that word up) make a lot of money not announced. He stated Chuck and Rampage both made over $1M for their fight, but less than a quarter of it was contracted.

And in regards to sponsorship I wonder how much that beef jerky company is paying Brock to sponsor, or do you think he is a part owner because he hunts and supplies most of the meat?

Carwin was a nobody before the UFC signed him, many people didnt know of him and the UFC wouldnt be able to sell PPVs with him headlining early on.

He is also on his first contract, He will be making around 200-300 a fight I would say, especially since more people know him and the UFC is marketing him well, with the 12 fights, 12 stoppages.

I dont have a problem with Brock making 400k+PPV money while Carwin makes 40k, as I just stated my reasons above. I have a problem with guys making 6,000-10,000 a fight. The needs to set a minimum salary at around 15-20k, that would be a lot better starting off.

dont forget folks, Carwin has all the leverage in talking negotions, UFC will not want to let him walk out regardless of how much he asks for.

UFC fighters typically sign 3 to 6 fight deals, with UFC's option to terminate after two losses in three fights, or really, anytime they want to.

Shane has had 5 UFC fights so far, so it's likely he'll be free to renegotiate after his next UFC fight.

It makes a lot of sense that Shane would still be at his full time engineering job, given the modest income he derives from fighting, and given the lack of employment security with the UFC.

Which is why Brock's "weekend warrior" comment stings in retrospect.

As far as endorsements, it's likely he's making about as much in sponsorship money as he is in fight purses: which is to say, not very much.

Do we really need to have this discussion after every PPV? Just don't even respond to the people complaining about payouts they are all trolls. They don't care about logical explanations.
