Instead of finding a replacement for Kenny Florian at UFC 62, the company is eyeing the 10/14 UFC 64 PPV for the vacant Lightweight Championship match between Florian and Sean Sherk.
Florian cited a need to further train in withdrawing from the UFC 62 show, but he apparently will be ready in October.
According to the same report from the Wrestling-Observer Newsletter, Tim Sylvia will defend his Heavyweight Championship against Jeff Monson at the same show. Monson is training with Mark Coleman and Wes Sims for the matchup.
The original plan was to feature Rich Franklin's next Middleweight title defense at the October show, but it is unclear if that fight will still take place.
It is known, however, that UFC is hoping to load up the PPV to steal thunder from PRIDE, which runs in Las Vegas on 10/21, so there likely will be another marquee fight.
Spyder says, I dont know how accurate this Wrestling Observe is, but it seems interesting. Because Franklin said, he is ready to fight in Oct. @ 64. Who knows...
