The news is finally out that Fight Island is Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Not surprising considering that the UFC has hosted three events there before.

Also remember that Flash Entertainment is still a 10% owner off the UFC so it is in their vested interests to make sure that the UFC succeeds. Heck they may not even be charging the UFC for using the area as a way for them to make money in this. Smart business decision if this is the case.

One of the biggest financial contributors to the US republican party is saudi arabia and big oil. Its one reason why Tesla lost tax incentives after Trump was elected in 2016.

Trump and Dana White hanging out more these days could have paved the way towards the UFC doing more of these Abu Dhabi deals. In the way that Trump and Elon Musk talking more is Trump's source for hearing about hydroxychloroquine to combat corona virus.

Let's be honest the hydroxychloroquine lady was a hoax and she is being investigated for possibly poisoning her husband with it. Even if it was true who in the world would think that it is safe to ingest fish tank cleaner, especially if it says DO NOT INGEST! Also it's probably because of the Flash Entertainment deal that they're out there.

Whatever negatives the media says about hydroxychloroquine. Elon Musk was the first famous scientist / celebrity out there to recommend it as a treatment for corona. Any source that says "science does not support it" is essentially claiming that Elon Musk doesn't know science [email protected]#%.

What is Flash Entertainment btw?

Flash Entertainment is Abu Dhabi's own private company similar to how there are many Chinese government owned companies. It bought a 10% stake in Zuffa back in 2010 and that's when the ownership between Dana White and the Fertittas when from 10%, 45% and $45% respectively to 9%, 40.5% and 40.5%. Also Flash still owns 10%.

Interesting. I didn't know that. Abu Dhabi is their plan for the future after middle eastern oil reserves are depleted. Its a diversification away from oil towards real estate, tourism and it would seem they've invested in the UFC as well.

I think many of those middle eastern oil countries are diversifying because they've realized that the oil will run out at some point so they're taking steps to make sure they can keep making money while they have oil money. That's pretty smart and forward thinking if you think about it. Because of that many are business barons without oil.

What would be cool is if they pumped ocean water from rising seas and climate change into the middle east.

And transformed the entire desert region into a tropical forest.

That could solve problems relating to rising sea levels as well as greenhouse gas emissions.

Evaporating salt water and capturing its water vapor, would make it fresh. The leftover salt could be used as food seasoning.

People have experimented with afforestation. Transforming desert parts of the middle east into forest for a long time now. Don't know if they'll pursue it for political reasons. But they should.

I think there was a guy in africa and another in indonesia who planted hundreds if not thousands of acres of forest in their respective countries. That's the type of people the world needs to get carbon emissions under control.

Yeah because planting trees in and itself would contribute to taking away carbon emissions because the trees by themselves are made of carbon and would take it away. That's the problem is that irresponsible modernization is partially what's leading to bad carbon emissions. Plant trees and that's carbon taken out of the air.

Exactly ^. Sharp comment.

Between 50% and 80% of the world's natural rainforest were cut down by people to make way for highways, malls, shopping centers, real estate projects, etc.

That's where most of the problem stems from. And the reason why planting trees (afforestation) has always been at the forefront of the debate.

Yeah I'm a capitalist but I'm not for advancing capitalism at the cost of the environment, especially if trees that help with climate issues are being cut down. I'm also not a fan of the militant vegans who want to put all of humanity on a vegan diet because in order to do that more trees would have to be cut down. Afforestation needs to be a priority.

Countries like china pursue large scale afforestation programs.

More or less everyone else follows poor policies guaranteed to wreck their economies and job markets.

Unless you are talking about some of the better economy nations that know they need to do stuff that works for the long term. Like us in the US do economic policies that will keep us as the number one economy for a good while longer unless something crashes. Also the Arab countries are making smart decision while they still have oil money.

I think they don't really make decisions anymore. They only carry out the plans of the rich and powerful. With the media working to influence people into support.

There are policies and plans that are far better than anything being done atm.

Many economic plans being pushed are self destructive.

Yeah which is ironic cause you'd think that the rich elite would want everyone else to be rich because that means they'd be rich as well. However, they are orchestrating these self destructive economic policies instead which will result in their downfall. Socialism will come for them and they will indeed lose everything.
