Nice odds on Paul Kelly folks!

Volkmann is the definition of freestyle fighter. This guy is wild, and it is cool to see him as the favorite, but I wouldn't be surprized to see Kelly smash him or choke him out.

Christmas! I don't remember ever seeing him win, but I like to see him fight.

I can see Volkmann winning it, but as a favorite? Stranger things have happened I guess.

DJ Syko is the man with the plan :thumbsup: Volkmann takes the UD:

Round 1 - "Big" John McCarthy in charge of the evening's final preliminary bout. Volkmann takes the center early, but Kelly rushes forward with three punches that miss. Right scores for Kelly. Volkmann gets a clinch, but Kelly away easily. Kelly scores a low kick. Volkmann with his head low, looking for that takedown. He lands a low kick, and Kelly pushes in before pulling away. Kelly holds the center, and Volkmann circling. Low kick from Volkmann earns a counterpunch from kelly. Volkmann finally gets the opening he needs and works Kelly to the floor. Half-mount for Volkmann, essentially side control. Halfway in. Kelly bucks up and scrambles back to his feet, but Volkmann immediately tosses him down and moves into side control. Kelly spins to his knees, and Volkmann happily takes the back. No hooks, and Kelly rolls again to his back. Volkmann steps into mount and lands a few shots before Kelly rolls. Volkmann does get the hooks as Kelly stands. Volkmann is high, but he doesn't slide off. Kelly scrambling, but Volkmann is glued to the back. Volkmann continually ignores the opportunity to sink the hooks in preference of punches from a half-rear-mount position. Kelly rolls again, and Volkmann transitions beautifully into an armbar. He's got it locked in, but the round ends. Volkmann takes the frame on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 2 - Kelly lands and early right. He kicks to follow, and Volkmann immediately shoots on the move. Top position for Kelly. The Brit tries to sweep, but Volkmann rolls through it and is again on the back. Kelly in his knees. Volkmann again shows no desire to take the back. As Kelly rolls, Volkmann rolls with him and slides into side control. Volkmann attacking the left arm again. Kelly keeps it safe, and he spins to his knees. Volkmann takes the back, then mount on a transition. Armbar attempt, but Kelly shows some guts and spins out and into top position. Volkmann works an open guard, though he's got a firm lock around the shoulders. Kelly finally breaks it with two minutes left, but Volkmann recovers the hold before Kelly can offer any damage. Kelly stands, and as he moves back in, Volkmann sweeps to the top. It's a repeat performance. Kelly to his knees, Volkmann to the back. Volkmann mounts, and as Kelly rolls, he takes the back. Kelly rolls through to the top, stands and then pushes in with a semi-cartwheel guard pass. Wasn't as cool as it sounds. Kelly ends the round in top position, and he's showing some nice scrambles, but Volkmann takes it again on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 3 - Volkmann with an early low kick, very soft. Kelly catches his attention with a straight. Another follows, but Volkmann shoots in. Kelly tries desperately to sink in a guillotine as he hits his back, but Volkmann pops his head out. Kelly sweeps to top, and Volkmann sets up in guard. Kelly with an elbow and a few short punches from the top. Another elbow comes down hard. Volkmann trying to slow things down underneath. McCarthy calls for a restart halfway in. Volkmann with a lead left. Kelly leaps in with a left, but Volkmann pushes him to the floor. Kelly showing heart and trying to scramble, but Volkmann is just too much on the floor. Volkmann into side control. Volkmann trying to attack the right arm again, though Kelly gets half-mount. Kelly bucks him off and lands a beautiful leaping knee. Volkmann falls to the canvas, but he recovers immediately and moves into top position when Kelly rushes in. it was a Hail Mary that almost came through. Kelly rolls to his knees, and Volkmann again takes that half-rear-mount position. Volkmann flattens Kelly out, though they return to their feet just before the final horn. Another round for Volkmann, and he sweeps the fight on the MMAjunkie.com card, 30-27. Jacob Volkmann def. Paul Kelly via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
